I used a rubber mallet. Most of the forming I did off the hull. I would test it, see where I needed to bang it some more and go back and forth. Plus if the patch is exterior and you are underneath trying to hammer up, doesn't sound effective or fun...

1. Clean corrosion inside and out. Yes, use a wire wheel and clean entire area that will be covered with the aluminum plate

That being said, don't rush your prep. Take your time and think it through. Paint on aluminum is one of the easiest things to mess up.

Did you add any additional support to the splashwell? Never liked the limited connection points that secured the splashwell to the gunwale and such, but maybe that was just the SS 16s.

Not the best nor the worst pitting we have seen. With its location at the motor mount you could add an additional sheet to just patch/cover that area. That would help add strength and protection.

Hadn't thought about stereo. Most of mine are small items: Livewells, lights, etc... So maybe I am not running anything big enough to warrant 15 amps. Just seemed a little high for me.

I have never been one for polishing aluminum, but know others have. It would look good, but it might get bright in the sun too. My 2 cents is just to paint it, but that is just me.

I went with similar arrangement as @MNhunter1. Four in the back with one upfront in a removal front casting deck. That being said, I am 6' 2" and tried the shorter 9" seat pedestal. It didn't not work and I switched to the 12". Something to think about is guys our size will never get low...
Any pictures? If you got water intrusion it can cause issues with just the fiberglass itself if not dried out. Why do you think you have bilge rot?

I have seen many repairs done by rivet and 5200. They do have the potential for head popping if hit, but so would bolt and nut. So if you can't weld closed, I don't see an issue with rivet/5200.

As for the fairing compound, not sure why. If you are going to cover flooring don't see a practical purpose.
