1991 Mercury 200hp V6 Overvoltage and Dropping Power

You're measuring those 17VAC's from ground? The Block? Hmmmm, I'm not sure about the 2 yellow wire stator's but, I know my 4 yellow wire stator wires are all isolated from ground. As a test on the four wire units, Merc, in fact has a current test measurement to assure there is NO current path on...

1991 Mercury 200hp V6 Overvoltage and Dropping Power

Oh crap, my manual cut off at and was showing 92 200 EFI with the air cooled, my mistake. 1991 200 carb has seperate rec and reg, both air cooled 1991 200 EFI single rec/reg water cooled

    Cowbells

We use them for Kokanee and yeah, was told once as well they resemble a group of bait fish. aka "Jackaloyds" in these parts....... We use them with Wedding Ring Spinner (aka kokanee killer.....red or red/green, mylar or metal blades) tied on ( w snubber sometimes) tipped with maggots (free...

2000 honda 15hp oil light question

Not knowing your year and assuming the design is the same, my 92 - 9.9BF uses a neon bulb for the oil pressure indicator that is wired through the CDI unit that derives its power off the exciter coil under the flywheel. There is a oil pressure switch in series with the bulb and if the switch is...

    Wiring

I read that and I suppose that'd be okay but yes, be very careful, she'll heat up, not to mention spin up pretty fast....... This might help and assuming ONLY the battery is upgraded to 12V, I numbered the text boxes for further reference if need be cuz I'm not sure we're all on the same page...

    Wiring

I'm with gm on this and also due to only having a one wire starter solenoid that must (as best I can tell) **internally tap off the battery terminal for the solenoid's control coil, either you'll need to switch to a two wire starter solenoid and wire it so both choke and starter solenoid's can...

    Oil Temperature warning systems.

I was headed in this direction with this CH unit and an accountant could do this ;). Not sure anymore but, this or something similar is what I thought you were after and is what struck my chord reading your intro as it has over-tones of what I built......... You'd have to add a 1) A...

Solenoid works but it won't click/ start the motor

Just "click" with a new solenoid with no cranking implies bad starter and/or the path to the starter but, backing waaaaaaaaaay up however, you said......... This ^^^ I don't understand. Huh? You are taking the starter's negative (ground) cable and touching it to the batteries positive post...

    Down to the Wire !

Good catch Duke!!......I took a shot and went with his "blue stripe" on the wire and figured someone might have swapped heads. JD, See below for the factory installed port side temp gauge sensor (NOT the over temp switch) Duke is talking about. Notice the extra wire Duke mentioned.......

    Fuses And Wiring Help

Along with Dodge's et al drawing's/input's......This very basic/backbone wiring might help......There are variations (charging, loading schemes, etc) out there but, this seems to be the best practice factory'ish boiler plate scheme........Ya might need to adjust your values accordingly depending...

    Down to the Wire !

Over temp switch...goes to the terminal strip on side of block where it's paired/connected with the main harness's tan/blu ("brown/blu") wire and the warning module's tan/blue("brown/blu")

    Mariner stator

You have a stator that runs on "CDM's" (newer) type coils of 115HP's introduced in 97. The one you got, won't work You need stator for 96 and older 115HP with 6 wires of which, 4 wires go to the "switch box".

adding a diode (or two) to allow trim gauge to work without ignition

Another FYI..............The voltage spike (Meg scale) due to flyback voltages present at the trim gauge's power terminal, the relay's (up or down) being driven by an IC or open drain/collector device or switch. The voltage spike (NOT) present using a relay and at the trim gauge's power...

adding a diode (or two) to allow trim gauge to work without ignition

Quite welcome, just quick napkin scratches w a bit assumptions on the boat. Takes the guess work out though........ Your idea is neat, I like it and your thinking outside the box, it's quite founded IMO, similar to having a steering position indicator, nice to know where things are at a glance...

adding a diode (or two) to allow trim gauge to work without ignition

No need for diodes...........Just clip the trim gauge's power from the ig side (Purple) and power it with batt.(Red) circuit after the main batt. switch.....Just realize it will use a tad bit of current with the main switch on...........few milliamps.

10 Ton Hydraulic Battery Cable Lug Terminal Crimper

Apologies for the confusion mjf, the crimper at Harbor Freight linked for MH in post #6 only went to 0 (or 1/0) yes but, the amazon linked crimper up in my original post #1 I bought has metric sizes up to 70mm which I used the 70mm for the 2/0.
