    100+ outboards

It just occurred to me that all these discussions may be moot points. With the govmnt controlling our lives, 2-strokes may very well be outlawed. It has happened already in some areas. But wait!, there's more.....If the current theme continues, ALL gas engines might go away. Hows about we...

    Tin Rig Tow Vehicle

It's a 1968 Lark Selectric. Most troublesome motor I ever owned. Traded it in on a Triumph and had similar shifting problems. Finally sold that one for a Johnson Stinger. THAT was the best 2-stroke I ever owned.

    Tin Rig Tow Vehicle

My first towcar was a 1961 Mercury Comet with a 144 cid 85 HP inline 6, 3 on the tree. The boat was only about maybe 1000#. Never had an issue with it.

    Tin Rig Tow Vehicle

It's a 1980 Bonneville. It is equipped with the factory towing package with most of the things you itemized. Factory specs list a 4500# towing capacity with the package.

    Tin Rig Tow Vehicle

OMG, you must be the only guy left. (except for me) One day I pulled the boat into the ramp and got in the car. A bunch of millennials came over and said they were waiting to see what that old car could possibly pull. One minute of winching and the rig was in the lot. They shut up quick.

    Car Tires ok?

One of my TeeNee tandem trailers came from the factory with car tires. I ran them for many years without issue. They were only replaced when the sidewalls cracked. OTOH, I have had ST tires self destruct in 1-4 years. The sidewalls of STs say "not for use with passengers aboard" (or...

    Keel Repair

That's a keel roller? Looks like someone painted them. Painted rubber?

    Need some Help

Our boat ramps are city owned. The signs are very clear. Go to the town hall and buy a $35 season pass, or go to the kiosk at the ramp and pay $5 per. However, they don't tell you what the fine is if you don't. It's all good because the town police drive thru the park quite often. Chances...

    Need some Help

Once I said the same thing. Why buy a lousy launch ramp sticker for $35 when I might only use it once or twice a year. Besides, they never check anyway. One day they did. The ticket was $100. If I had only bought the sticker I could have saved 65 bucks... Using a plate off another trailer...

    Need some Help

Some states allow an unknown trailer to be titled as "home made". No biggie, just fill out a form. Check with your local DMV. Based on the pic, it looks older than 2000. They don't make tilt trailers any more (at least haven't seen one in years). It's too bad too, since they were better...

What year is this Boston whaler?

Doing illegal things are bad enough, and not very smart, but admitting to doing it on a public forum is beyond not smart.

What year is this Boston whaler?

The PA DMV can answer your questions. Nobody on the net knows the correct answers. Swapping VIN numbers is usually only done with stolen boats, and thus can open a big can of worms. Based on the pics, the boat may not be restorable. Whalers of that vintage are problematic unless well cared...

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

Maybe only a nice older lady that loves you for yourself and loves the water, but isn't interested in your money. The eye candy really isn't for you, it's to impress others by sticking your nose up at them.

    100+ outboards

Sounds like my "boathouse", though I don't have quite as many. Contact the AOMCI and maybe post an ad. If there are any members in the area I'm sure they would come with cash in hand. Note, though, that the market has slowed considerably. Not wortyh what they were a few years ago.

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

The video is stoopid. It pits boats vs. skis and implies that the former are oldsters and the latter are youngins. Not true. A few years ago I met a couple at a campsite. The man was driving a diesel pusher motor home and the lady was pulling a ski with her Caddy Deville. Both went out in...

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

I was at plane once and had a waterbug jumping my wake. He was within the 100 ft limit, so he was an $$$$$$$. I punched the throttle and turned hard to port to get out of his way. When he hit my last wake the ski went airborne and apparently he hit the dash with his face. My last view of him...

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

You're probably right about that. Jetskis came and gone and then couches became popular. The standup guys always poopooed the couches, but the truth is that the standups would have been extinct if the couches had not introduced the sport to the public. Being more aware and better riders...

    40hp 1980s Johnson Value

Truth is, the DO have a choice. When BRP took over Rude and dropped Johhny, most all dealers dropped them anyway, or at least added one of the competitors to their fold. When BRP bailed out there wasn't even a blip in their businesses. The problem is that the new era of mechanics are trained...

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

That is the very reason that some people simply hate jetskis. Regardless, wake jumping in mt area will get you a ticket from the water cops. In the last 20 or so years there have been 3 deaths on my little stretch of the river. OTOH, Cypress Gardens is fair game.

Lot more new boaters and large wakes?

Boating, driving, birdwatching, bicycle riding, whatever, pffffft. It's all the same. When someone irresponsibly bothers someone else, then bitching is allowed.
