Does EFI solve the hard start/cranking issue?

That was the problem I had first time out. As I was approaching the dock and put her in neutral I started to cuss because it stalled. Turned out the tach was still running and it was still peeing. Just expected behavior. I once had an Evinrude selectric shift and it would stall way too often.

    2001 Mercury 60hp Bigfoot

Yeah, you need a new prop. Probably a new engine as well. Its not suitable for your little boat.

Does EFI solve the hard start/cranking issue?

In the last 54 years I have had many 2-strokes. Yeah, they start up OK and run OK, as long as you maintain the points and keep the carb clean and run them reasonably frequently. The advent of electronic ignition, and the elimination of points, was a big step forward. The key is PMs, whether...

    Rod Holders

If they were Attwood, it would have the name embossed on the side. The stepped feature in the middle makes me believe they Are Tempress Fish-On. I put on my first set of Fish-Ons in about 1982. Have had them on every boat since. In fact, when I sell a boat I remove them and put them on the...

    Replacing Lonestar Bow Eye Advice

Happened to me as well. Cut off the nubs and file smooth. Buy a SS 2-bolt bow eye and drill 2 holes thru the stem and install. Seal with 5200. Aluminum drills easy. A std. drill worked in my case. If not. buy a 8 or 12" long reach drill bit. A 15 minute job.

    Stingray 208cr trimtabs question

Our 19' Stingray WAS a lake Erie boat. Of course we used our 15 foot woodie there as well. It all takes practice.

    Steel Caps or Bearing Buddys?

Very true about needing the hub FULL. That hole works in theory, but the rear seal will blow out before the excess grease has a chance to get out the little hole. (ask me how I know....LOL) Regardless, greasing until the spring JUST starts to move and all will be good. You are right about...

Just bought this pontoon from dealer, got home with no straps on back !

Of course the lawyers will sue both. But in the case of MY dealer, I had to sign a paper indemnifying them of liability if I don't use straps.

Just bought this pontoon from dealer, got home with no straps on back !

The selling dealer is liable if they don't properly secure the load when it leaves their lot. Once you get it home, though, you're on your own.

    Stingray 208cr trimtabs question

The advantage of tabs in MY boat was to allow me to trim UP in calm water and gain speed without porpoising. When the waves get big, you would normally want to trim IN (and of course slow down) so improve the ride. Yours is just a little boat, so naturally it won't have a smooth ride. If you...

    Free Boat

Back in the day we had a local Pacemaker dealer. They made a fine wooden boat. When fiberglass was becoming the norm they started making some models, and they were under the Alglas nameplate. As I recall they only made them for a few years before going out of business. Like many of the...

    Stingray 208cr trimtabs question

Yes, bouncing up and down as you trim out. The problem is that when you trim out to get the hull to ride the way you want it to, then it porpoises. So, you are almost always running trimmed in with most of the hull still in the water. My Stingray acted just like that, so I added fixed but...

    Stingray 208cr trimtabs question

Plane off for sure, but the Zplane is noted for porpoising. That's why they had a trim tab option.

Looking for a light, all around anchor

Clever idea. But in my neck of the woods, with current and wind, those zip ties wouldn't get me thru a day.
