    OMC Bad Gas

Remove sender from fuel tank and siphon the bad stuff off the bottom of the tank. The other option is to have the fuel polished or make a polisher of your own using a small pump and water separating filter

Plugging cockpit drains is recipe for disaster. These will do the trick https://www.rabud.com/portfolio/seascuppers

    Boat trim

I can see adding weight to the front helping to keep the bow down to help keep level on plane, but it’s not going to raise the transom. The increasing displacement only pushed the boat deeper in the water

    Weird Battery Switch Wiring

There is no “both” terminal per say. The switch has a connection for each battery terminal and a connection for the starter/accessories. Perhaps the starter connection is labeled both https://www.perko.com/images/catalog/pdf/Fig%208511-8512%20Inst.pdf

    Too windy?

As people have already said, winds affect bodies of water differently. I primarily boat on the Chesapeake Bay. The Bay is a relatively shallow north/south oriented body of water 200 miles in length. Long term weather events have a much larger impact than localized wind speeds. Most right...

    Inaccurate fuel gauge?

Using analog sensor. I have two tanks (Main and Aux) on one gauge. Flip a switch to select which tank to read and I wanted to keep that functionality. The GFS10 gave me the option to tie the main tank analog sensor into NMEA network which I did.

Additional sound signals for electric boats?

Use the same sound signal you use to signal non-powered boats.

Mercury Pro XS to MercMonitor Level 1 to Lowrance?

All fine and dandy but not very practical given the ignition must be on if you decide to utilize a network device in the future.

Audio Warning system disable with Key on engine off for Radio?

I’ve owned boats built in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Two where wired to the key switch because there where no empty positions in the accessories panels. The third had two empty positions in the accessory panel which I used to power the stereo/CD and fish finder finder. Ended up running a...

Audio Warning system disable with Key on engine off for Radio?

Don't wire your accessories to the ignition circuit. My ignition switch controls nothing but the choke, ignition and the starter motor.

    Trailer brake system opinions

The only thing the conversion would save you is the cost of the coupler less the cost of a break away kit and the associated wiring. Have to swap out the backing plates either way. Probably replace the drums as well if it's been sitting that long. Also need to install and wire a breakaway kit...

    run a ground wire

How do you double the number of wires without doubling the number of connections? I simply drilled and tapped the frame and installed a stainless steel ground lug for each light.

    Inaccurate fuel gauge?

It is accurate but not precise below 1000 rpm. At that point I’m burning roughly a gallon, gallon and a half an hour. Readings are cyclic (wonder if I’m not seeing the carb floats) but total reading at the end of the day falls in-line with expectation and gauge readings The key to reliable...

    Inaccurate fuel gauge?

What type of sender do you using? A perfect ground path (0 ohm) isn’t going to improve the situation if the output of the sender isn’t in spec. Have you put a meter on the output of the sender? Have used a pair of KUS-WEMA senders for 10+years in combination with a Garmin GFS10 fuel flow...

    Surge Brakes

Working properly, you should hardly notice them working. Trailer shouldn’t “push” the truck. Truck and trailer should stop as a pair My disks will blister your finger in a couple miles of leaving the house

    Buffing the hull

My boat turned 24 in April. Have used nothing but Collinite Fiberglas cleaner followed up with two coats of 885 Fleet Wax twice a year since new. Both applied by hand up until a couple of years ago when I finally bought a variable speed polisher. Was given a bottle of Smoove “bubble Gum”...

Evinrude XP-150 Trim has no power

Meaningless..... its a surface charge. Easy test.....measure battery voltage while trying to use the trim function. If the voltage drops you have a bad battery or trim motor. If the voltage doesn't change, there is something open (fuse, switch, relay, wire) in the circuit.

Evinrude XP-150 Trim has no power

60% charged means absolutely nothing...... A bad battery with a 60% charge is still a bad battery. You need to load test a battery to determine it's actual condition. Yes, trim motor are replaceable. Had to swap mine out this Spring.
