1995 Four Winns Horizon 190 Trailer wheel bearings

Thanks Lou, I'll consider getting the trailer brakes working again. In my case I only have a 2 mile drive from the storage space to the launch ramp so it's not highly critical and rarely is it taken further than that. But thanks for the info!

1995 Four Winns Horizon 190 Trailer wheel bearings

I bought a '95 Horizon 190 at the end of 2020 and am ready to get the wheel bearings looked at/repacked/replaced as needed. It's a Four Winns bunk trailer. I haven't noticed any problems but want to get it taken care of. The previous owner completely disabled the trailer brake system which is...

    '95 OMC 5.0L fuel line

Thanks so much. I'll look into replacing that fuel line going to the carb. The Sierra flexible one seems it be easiest. Thanks again!

    '95 OMC 5.0L fuel line

If you look at the attached photo, tell me what that is at the bottom of the pre-formed tube coming off the carb that connects to a rubber hose with clamps to a lower fuel line. Is that a check valve? filter?. Thanks

Water in bilge has returned in 1995 Four Winns 190 Horizon

Thanks everyone. So I looked up the invoices from the work that was done. In August 2021 the sea(raw) water pump was replaced, so I stand corrected Lou as it wasn't the water pump in lower unit, so that would make sense as a solution to stop water in bilge problem at that time. Also, when...

Water in bilge has returned in 1995 Four Winns 190 Horizon

Water in bilge was solved last summer with replacement of the water pump in the lower unit by a reliable local marine dealer. No more water appeared in the bilge, Now this summer I'm now getting about a 1 to 1-1/2 gallon of water finding its way into the bilge after about 3-4 hours on the lake...

1995 OMC 5.0L motor oil question

I have a '95 Four Winns Horizon 190 with an OMC 5.0L. The previous owner said he used 10W30 motor oil. I was always under the understanding that straight weight SAE 30 should be used in marine I/O engines. Will either one be OK to use?

Broken skeg, water re-appearing in bilge

I have a '95 Four Winns Horizon 190 with a 5.0L OMC engine and a Volvo Penta SX Cobra stern drive. I was getting water in the bilge earlier this season, my dealer found the leaking water pump was the cause. They replaced it and that solved the problem. Not a drop of water in the bilge after that...

1995 Four Winns Horizon 190 depth finder

I have a '95 Four Winns Horizon 190 with an original equipment Lowrance depth finder. The display is right on the dash. It works, not great , but it works, sometimes intermittent. Question I have is where is the transducer located? Nothing visible from outside the boat. Is it in the bilge? Is it...

No power to new Kenwood stereo reciever

Thanks, I'm thinking the same thing Poconojoe. Just not using the yellow wire. However, I usually disconnect the boat battery when its going to be idle/unused for any length of time.

No power to new Kenwood stereo reciever

Thanks Scott. Thanks everyone! I got it connected correctly last night. Red(+) and Black(-) are the main power(I should have known that) to operate the unit. Yellow is only for station/clock memory. Its working great now. Got to have a good sound system on the water! Thanks for your help.

No power to new Kenwood stereo reciever

I bought a new Kenwood marine stereo receiver for my '95 Four Winns Horizon 190 as the old one was not working at all since I bought the boat last year. After making sure speakers were wired correctly, I began to connect power to the receiver, found a good ground and connected it(black...

    Running new speaker wire

I bought a 1995 Four Winns Horizon 190 bow rider last year knowing it needed a new stereo receiver as the seller took out his high end unit and kept it. I bought a nice new Kenwood unit. I realize now that he also took his speaker wiring with him too. The boat has 8 speakers. My question is...

1995 OMC 5.0L IO starting procedure? Stalls when going into gear

Just a follow up to explain how this got resolved. I ended up taking it to a local dealer with 3 concerns, the stalling going into gear and not coming up to temperature issue and the water in the bilge(separate post). They found both problems. The sea water pump was leaking causing the water in...

1995 OMC 5.0L IO starting procedure? Stalls when going into gear

Thanks a lot Lou, Is changing the thermostat fairly basic? Like removing the hoses that go into a thermostat housing on top of the engine, then removing the housing, then replacing the t-stat and re-assembling everything? I'd like to put a new t-stat in for sure as part of the solution to this...
