Maybe add a description of the boat??
90 Trophy came with a few different style boats.
The problem is the props are the wrong ones.
They came with 13 1/2 X 17/19p 3 blade.
Like I explained the props are the wrong ones.
Your motors should run 53-5500 rpm.
4400 is too low.
I had a pair of 88/85...
The motor might need some fluid.
The 125 used a Prestolite pump.
The bottom half is the reservoir the top half is the electric motor.
The reservoir is filled when the motor is in the down position.
Remove the fill plug and add 30w motor oil until it runs out the hole.
Filling it while up can...
Easy out(Topgun) the plug is small and you might have to drill through it to install the tool.
Once the tool is installed, use a propane torch to heat the boss around the plug. That should make it easier to come out.
The reeds are behind the carbs. Remove the carbs and inspect the reeds.
A reed is like a clarinets reed that vibrates to make the noise.
They allow fuel in but block the fuel so it won't come out.
Damaged or missing reeds let fuel come back out the front and can make it backfire. A backfire can...
The drain plug on the bottom of the drive could be an allen head set screw??? IT'S VERY EASY TO STRIP!!! Hard to find sometimes.
If it doesn't come easy? you can use a propane torch and heat the area around the plug. The heat won't hurt any thing unless you really get it hot (not likely)
If it's...
Do the starting fluid test: start the motor, spray SF around the intake side of the engine. If that makes the motor run different?? Then it's sucking air and needs to figure out where?
You have 2 port covers on the intake side. One has the fuel pump the other nothing. Most time the port caver...
I've never ran across frozen towershaft linkage.
Keep taking it apart and see if you can find the problem.
Do a compression test and check the lower unit for water.
IF??? you have water in the oil, you need to do a pressure test to find the weak link.
Then fix that, then replace the impeller.
Your pump has a stainless cup and wear plate and usually the impeller is all that's needed.
