    Cleaning gas tank?

That's certainly good advice. Not sure how comforting it would be to go out 10 miles or more to troll for the day with only 40 gallons anyway. But I'd like to find something to do for now, while they're still mounted. If possible. If I have to tear the deck up, new tanks are the way to go...

    Cleaning gas tank?

I have 2 cylinder 20 gallon below deck tanks. The boat is 1970 Penn Yan, but I think tanks are newer when stringers and deck was done. The boat sat in a barn for 20 years and the tanks are full of crud. The pickup in 1 plugs up, other tank at least works. Gauges are frozen on both. I need a...

Which States/Provinces Enforce Registration Numbers Requirements

I believe this is key part of my printing business is vinal graphics and have done many DOT and Michigan watercraft reg numbers. The customers nearly always complain about 3in. I warn them about the law and do what they request, usually 2.5 or 2.75 Agree, it can be a pretext to board. But on...

    88 Capri Restoration (Splashed 08/2022)

I believe you're correct, wood is cheaper core material. Don't know if it's true, but, I think I heard after 1995 most are solid glass

    daily music fix

Truly love the 60's and 70's psychedelic rock. Couldn't get enough of Stevie Ray Vaughn for more bluesy sound. Boycotted the radio through the 80's and 90s. Just heard a great country tune. It's about boats too. Chris Janson "Buy me a boat"

    Old I/Os = Money Pits?

Creativity 🤔 Reminds me of way back when we dug a hole in the ground, pushed the car over it, drop the trans into it and push the car back away. A nice tree limb has been perfect for lifting motors out of taller boats. I'll never cut that tree down!

    Spare Stern Drive

Didn't see the attachments before. Agree with froggy Could be a shim or bearing cause. Kind of looks like the wear started where it should then moved to the toe.

    Spare Stern Drive

Oops, I forgot you have a Cobra. Was thinking it was an 800. (Edit 400) Maybe someone else can help with the upper. I know a little about old mercruiser and older OMC , but this is a different beast.

    Spare Stern Drive

My little experience is with electric shift. It's hard to tell the size of that broken piece, but it sure looks like the pin that goes through the middle of the shifter dog. Take the retainer spring off and inspect the one that's there.

    Spare Stern Drive

Lucky it didn't get chewed in the gears! Could it be from the shift mechanism that moves the dog between the gears? Part #313448 Could explain coming out of gear. Gears look great, how are the bearings?

    1972 Grew SS245

Sierra made it until recently, not sure of the formulation, they say it's for OMC. Google and eBay will find it. I think Kenny's right. A trans fluid for newer electric assist transmission should work. Good news, that intermediate sealing boot looks new

Thanks for the reply, I was joking about the flex seal. What type of glass should I use? It's not structural, so CSM ? How thick ?

Don't know if that cover is "lipstick on a pig " but don't give up on it yet. Check the stringers! Try to remove the lag bolts holding the mounts to stringers. If they just spin, you have rot. Personally I love boats like that. That electric shift will have people talking at the ramp. Just...
