    Finally Had To Retire It

You should have posted that your old housing was bad. I've got one that I would have given you for a donation to an animal shelter. Good luck with the new motor.

    No Spark After a Short - '89 50hp

Don't assume anything when it comes to outboards :( "but stator looks bright and clean, and the magnets look good from what I can see." Again don't assume. Like the Force Power said" even a stator that tests good can be bad" You'll need to get a meter and the adaptor for DVA or Peak Reading...

Me again ugh Force 120 hp now a flywheel question

Myself, I've not had much luck in re-gluing magnets except the older ones that are one long band (pre 94/95) Like Redbarron suggested look for scrap outboards and maybe you'll find a good flywheel?

New Force Owner, No Start Issue

These motors don't usually need the timing adjusted once it's set. If the key's sheared it won't run very good if it runs at all. Backfiring is usually an air leak at the port covers or the diaphragm in the pump needs replacing(allows to much fuel to the piston) or the air screws are set wrong????

    85hp Force Under powered

The reason there's 2 in one and 1 in the other is the motors a 3 cyl. If it was a 4cyl. both would have 2 wires in each connector. The "plug and play" connectors(made before 1987, used on the power pack) are famous for failing. Each coil has plug and play connectors but don't seem to be a...

    85hp Force Under powered

What's the compression readings? When you cleaned the carbs, did you make sure the jets were clear and no build up in them? Where are the air/fuel needles set? should be at 1 turn out, maybe 1 1/8? If they don't make any difference then the port cover gaskets might be sucking air? Do the...

New Force Owner, No Start Issue

The backfire could be the gaskets on the port covers have gone bad and the motors sucking air. Do the starter fluid test: start motor, spray SF around the intake side of the motor. Any change in the way it runs means it's sucking air. ONE!!! backfire can blow the port cover gasket/gaskets. The...

Throttle cable maintenance and adjust basics? Force 85 H.P. or other..

Usually adjustments aren't needed unless someone tinkers or "adjusts" something. The cables: unless the ends are exposed to the weather then they don't need lube. The ends or connectors,, you can lube with a couple drops of oil. Silicone sprays end up getting sticky and can clog. If you lube...

New Force Owner, No Start Issue

Backfire/smoke: Could be the system is flooded or there's an air leak somewhere? Changed floats?? what floats did you change to? Most aftermarket floats won't work and cause flooding. Load test the battery. Rebuild the starter, the brush kits are cheap, they sell them here.

    1986 Force 125 hp popping

You said (the motor sound good for a few seconds and then abruptly stops. It also pops when trying to start.) This sounds like there's an air leak somewhere? The popping could be the air screws are set wrong or the port cover gaskets are bad and sucking air? Remove the carbs and check the reeds?
