    Drill some holes from the inside of the transom down low. 1/4 inch deep, don't go all the way through. If you get wet wood shavings, rotten wood, it will need a full restoration.

    Have you ever pulled it at speed , the boat will stop in a heartbeat. I pulled mine accidentally at wot, it almost thru me over the bow.

    well that is unfortunate, I have had a couple of old bf 75s used on a sailboat, and I do think those are idle relief ports and a bit of water and exhaust will be coming from them. I still have no idea why someone would add the plumbing to them unless the motor was mounted in some kind of well...

    Does your boat have a pulpit,? You want it high enough to get over, but low enough to climb up.

    Looks like you have some extra screws to hang a picture or clock. By all means, bolt that sucker on and back it at least with fender washers.

    Looking at your pic I think the blades that are compressed would not do a backflip I believe they would simply follow as is until they could straighten. And then orient to the housing. .
