    Boat Battery Questions - Cranking

My vote on batteries has always been get whatever is widely available near you. They're consumables and are all more or less the same level of quality... Even the "deep cycle" ones are more of a dual purpose. Which is what I would (and do) run vs a straight starting battery A compromise on both...

I boat out of toms river. Thats actually interesting my perspective on it is that much different. Edit: we were up on the metedeconk until 2017. I typically find the north run more relaxing. Bay always seems worse further south I go.

I want to know where you're at. I'd argue where I'm at in NJ it's the worst I've ever seen it in a long time. It's to the point where june-august I will not use either boats or the waverunner on a weekend unless it's particularly nice out because I don't want to deal with the idiots.... For...

    Transom replacement.

The 1708 is 45 degree cross stitched 17oz bias ply with 3/4 CSM stitched on the back. I think 1700 is just the cross stitched piece. CSM and woven will build faster. I believe the 1708 with the 45 degree bias and stitching is easier to work with (for me) and stronger for the same weight while...

    Transom replacement.

You can't use standard CSM with epoxy. For the gelcoat, that's fine though I believe you have to use a tie or adhesion promoter of sorts for best adhesion to epoxy.

    Transom replacement.

So when I did the transom in my 84, I obviously did it from inside but the materials list was the same as @MikeSchinlaub reccomended. I laminated the 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood with titebond 3 (waterproof) though looking back I could've easily used a sheet of wetted CSM between with poly and...

    My 84 4winns horizon 195 project.

Been a while. I've been crawling in and out of the cover the last couple weeks taking some measurements. It seems for every single day we get with a reasonable outdoor work temp (35 degrees or so) we get like 5 more where it's teens. Ironically they also only occur when I'm working. Anyway...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

I guess slip kind of can be approximated as a torque converter but also not... on take off it lets the prop spin up until it bites and picks up speed so kind of. But once you're moving it's just a measure of lost forward movement compared to how much it should move for a given revolution...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

Honestly slip is the last thing I look at. If it's performing the way it should be, the numbers fall where they fall. Anything under 25% is fine and anything under 10% is exceptional. If all other performance parameters are where they need to be but slip is 17% that's fine. Same if it's 8%. Now...

I've started keeping it in the side boxes. They don't even like it under the seat but visible.

    Required Safety Course

I've actually had the waverunner inspected by the coastguard several times too. They're always very happy about the extra equipment I keep on board. Only time I was hassled during an inspection was on my lifevests on the boat. They said they were too old at the time... (they were purchased ~ a...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

I see the one speck. Looking again it looks like it may just be noise from the camera. It just caught my eye first go around though.

The #4 plug almost looks like it has signs of detonation on it.

Most states recognize other states boating safety certificate. However since the boat is registered in NY I am unsure how that would work. It's fine for a rental. You aren't a resident. So I'd think it's fine still. The only place I had an issue with was Connecticut... doing a little digging...

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

Depends on the 4 blade and depends on the 3 blade what happens. Similar sized 4 blades will usually need less pitch than a 3 blade. My experience varies after testing a lot of props over the years.

    Prop Selection - Bayliner 175

I ran a 19p on my 3.0 in my 19 footer and it did alright. That being said I'd take what it came with and everything else with a grain of salt... the 3.0l isn't a powerhouse by any means but it'll get the job done... now mind you this is a much heavier and larger vessel than yours. Time to plane...

Lexus Oil Leaks and Mechanic (Woes)

Actually not an ecotec, 4th gen high feature V6. But yes, pretty much any vehicle I've had with a solenoid based VVT it typically is a common failure.... I just want to know for sure though. And like... I'm bored. :ROFLMAO:
