    Just to update this post in case anyone else out there needs it one day. This is to replace a control cable for a 2004 Regal 1800 bowrider. It has the Volvo Penta 4.3 GL and Volvo Penta SX outdrive. I found this video helpful to get the cable removed.

    Had to press to neutral button down and use the handle to heave it back into place. Seems like it is indeed the gear shifting cable that’s the problem, it’s pretty sticky! Thanks for your help! Now onto figuring out how to replace the cable! Thanks

    Not sure. I can’t find any numbers or markings on it. Other than the sticker about the start-in-gear protection. I’ll try putting the handle back on.

    2004 regal 1800 with a Volvo penta 4.3 GL. I’ve only taken the boat out once and the throttle control was having a lot of trouble getting in/out of neutral. My plan was to take it off and test the cables and the mechanism to see if anything was sticking. I disconnected the gear cable (I think)...
