    Sounds like maybe the timing is out now, are the plug leads on correct plugs ( assuming not waisted spark ....how many ht coils does it have ), or cut flywheel key. I feel for you dude ,maybe you have more than one fault to deal with . 🙂

    I can remember being flat broke about age 18 ,power cut off ,late on rent and all I had to eat was a 2 gallon jar of my Mothers home pickled onions . They were ok for a couple of days but ½ way thru the 2nd week the neighbours cat was looking pretty tasty .

    Usually when I measure piston clearance its with new parts ( checking the clearance after a re bore ) anI usually just put a feeler gauge in the bore and if the piston still fits it has that much clearance . A bit rudimentary but it gives you a good indication .
