size help... switching from aluminum to stainless

Stainless Steel props weigh a lot more than Aluminum so they do take more power to spin up. The weight increase varies depending on how close the SS prop copies the AL, or being much stronger , are the blades thinner? Thinner blades are more efficient so that will work in SS favor. Being...

    OEM Prop

The engine was rated 40hp @4500 rpm. WOT range is 4000 - 5000 rpm. We used a 12 or 11 1/2 on a 14 ft Skagit with a 1963 40hp Electramatic. A 13 1/4 did give an extra 1/2 mph but it took a bit longer to plane.

How many leave hitch on all time ? It it legal in Illinois?

I got rear ended about 15 yrs ago, the cops never said boo about the ball and bar being there, it did bend the hitch, Class II at the time. In the 40 yrs I have been towing, not once have I ever been jacked up for having the drawbar and ball installed. Hitch Balls on the Bumper, if they are...

    HEATHKITs

This may have been discussed before, but with trying to restart an old thread... How many here were avid Heathkit builders? I was 12 yrs old in 1972 when I discovered Heathkits. I was in total awe of building a Stereo, as my dad was tone deaf and hated good music, there was no reason in his...

    Standard or modified prop?

A selection of several props, all stated to the same pitch, say 20", can deliver very different results, speed wise and RPM wise, how the boat rides and handles, how solid the props grip on the water. Unless you are comparing two different pitches of the same prop model/lineage, it often is an...

Need help on my 1995 Volvo Penta

You think carbs are a pain in the butt to troubleshoot. They are easy compared to the mischief and headaches a FI system brings to troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs. Give me a carb any day. Jets, power valve calibration, Secondary opening calibration, are some of the calibrations that...

    Repower 1998 Glastron GS 249

I put a Holley 650 CFM Spreadbore carb onto my 2002 5.7 VP. A manifold swap was not needed as Volvo used a very good 4bbl intake and adapter with the 500 cfm Holley 2bbl. the swap increased my WOT rpms by about 450, so I had to increase the pitch by 2" to get the rpms back to where they were...
