71 Johnson 50 hp Initial Prop?

Run your fingers across the blade in the direction of the arrows, does the blade feel like it does a little flip where the blue arrows point to, ? The area with the red circle does not count as rake cupping:D

    67 80 HP problems

A safety switch would not allow any current to the starter. Watching the video again, the bendix does start to lift and engage, but then the grinding starts. Did the rebuilder check the whole mechanism, or just the armature, brushes, bearings? This is for a 65 90, but there shouldn't be too...

    Would a prop too thin..

That pic was taken 5 or 6 years ago so I can't recall any specifics(my cousin was driving) other than the prop is a 20in Enertia. Here the pic a bit bigger and one before it 0.60 seconds later, my avatar shot

71 Johnson 50 hp Initial Prop?

The trailing edge of the blade will have a little flip or wedge effectively increasing pitch. A curl or wedge at the tip increases the props rake. Now days most props for engines like yours are cupped. The props in the early 70s, especially the AL types were rarely cupped.

    4 to 2

Is there anyone out there who knows of a Prop Shop qualified, where I can send a 4 blade prop so they can cut two of the blades off and rebalance it, thus making me a 2 blade prop? Preferably in Canada?

Carb only sucks gas when choked by hand 1974 1150 TOP

Do you have the overhaul kit for the carb? If so did you remove the round plug(33) that cover the idle ports? Unless that is R&R it is pretty much impossible to ensure the idle circuit is clean

New Holley Marine Avenger how can I connect this to the Volvo 33C Throttle cable?

Does you old Holley have something like this (arrow) on its throttle?. This one on my 2bbl 500cfm swapped over to my Holley 650 Spreadbore, by rotating it 180 degrees Holley makes a lot of carbs that probably taken the old linkage adapter https://www.holley.com/products/marine/marine_carburetors/

To decarbon or not to decarbon ?

Freeing up the rings does make a difference. One the better 2 stroke oils(XD-50 is one) will go a long way in keeping carbon buildup low. I know I going to get feedback that any TCW-3 oil is fine. Well XD-50 isn't TCW-3 certified, neither is XD-100. But both of these oil far exceed the Spec, are...

Some people just shouldn't own a boat!

If you are referring to the one with the buffoon looking where he's been, his Charlie foxtrot numbers were visible when I lightened up the original image in PS. Here's one of the Lake Lice getting hauled over by Fish and Wildlife for exceeding the 12 km/hr speed limit in Moonlight Bay

76 mercury outboard water coming from spark plug

Here was my 84 115 getting a new cover in 87. On a 76 merc, the pee hole would be on the starboard side of the engine near the rear. On my engine you can see the hose that feeds the pee hole going to the top of the block. Some older engines had the pee hole feed on the water jacket cover.

    Boat will not plane

First of all, are all the engine drains closed properly? Are all the hoses clamped tight? Was the boat dry(drained with nose high and drain plug out) before you first took it out? the 260 on the engine refers to HP. Most 260s historically have been 5.7L(350), only the past 15 or so years have...
