1995 force 70 hp ignition help

That are some of the ranges at your VOM, right? As you do not have a DVA adapter you have to set the VOM at 700V AC when measure the stator cause the stator output is AC voltage. When measure the triggers output set the VOM at 2V AC. If you use a DVA adapter to your VOM you have to set the VOM...

1995 force 70 hp ignition help

You can check the output voltage with your VOM, BUT the best is to have a DVA meter or a DVA adapter to your meter. The DVA adapters purpose is to store the peak voltage output so you are able to se the value of it. You can use your meter but you would not been able to se the actual peak...

What is this part called on Force 125

As said before that screw and lock nut control the spark advance. On these Chrysler/Force engines you set the maximum spark advance at WOT (wide open throttle). The spec for your engine from factory was in those days with better fuel than to day 32dgr BTDC at WOT. With the fuel there are now I...

1995 force 70 hp ignition help

Follow brodmann is a good starting point, BUT NO NO NO 12V AC or DC at the kill switch. This engine has CDI ignition system and there should not be any voltage at the kill switch, if there is the CDI box is bad. Checking resistance (Ohm) at the components gives you some information but to be...

    1997 50HP 3cyl coil test question

Okey. BTW: The prime side of the coil is a very low ohm winding. The VOM will show very low resistance and you do not know if it is okey or it is a short circuit. The measurement will show almost the same value.

    1997 50HP 3cyl coil test question

Yes it can ohm out good but still be bad. Remember that when you check the resistance with a VOM you only put out the battery voltage from the VOM, about 4.5, 6 och 9 Volts depending on brand of VOM. The CDI box are putting 200+ Volt to the primery side of the coil. I think you have a bad...

1990 force 125 shift bellow leak

Yes, there should be a zip tie to fit the bellow in the grove at the top. Do not tight it to much.

What is this part called on Force 125

It is for the timing. You adjust the timing with these.

    1971 outboard power head compatibility

Both those suppliers are good, very service minded. There are another supplier I have use and it is Outboardpartsdotcom. I am in Sweden Europe but no problem to buy parts from these suppliers. They ship almost over the whole world.

1981 115 Johnson charging voltage is 16 volts

I would install a separately battery for AUX devise such as fish finder and connect a voltage-sensitive differential relay. The relay closes when the voltage reach about 13,5-14 Volt and you will not drain the starter battery for the engine by the AUX devises.

1981 115 Johnson charging voltage is 16 volts

I am not super familier with the OMCs but they should actually be similar to Chrysler/Force with in the charging system. 16 Volt is not alarming high and the regulator should start to regulate at about 16 V. Is 16 V at WOT or at 1000-1200 RPM? Generally the alternator start to charge at about...

    1996 40HP Force (by Mercury)

I do not trust the Chinese aftermarket parts. If aftermarket use good brands such as Sierra, CDI Electronics otherwise OEM. Used parts can be a challenge.

Sorry, how have you stated spark at all four cylinders.

    Force 120hp won't start

Have you checked the compression by your self or it is information from pre owner? Have you checked the timing by your self ? How have you stated you have spark at all three cylinders? Do as topgun3690 and racerone says. Clean the carbs and put a clear inline filter between the fuel pump and the...

1955 evinrude 7.5 hp carb and starting

CDI Electronics and Sierra have those replacement coils. Should be many dealers or web shops that have them. Master Tech Marine is one on the web.

1955 evinrude 7.5 hp carb and starting

Change both coils, not only one of them!!! They are cheap and the one you do not change will fail soon. BTW. When you check with your VOM for resistance, the VOM put out the battery voltage the VOM is supplied with. Maybe 4.5, 6 or 9 Volt depending on brand.

1994 Force 120 Low compression on top cylinder

My opinion about what have gone wrong is!! If it was rebored, is it rebored to right spec.? Has he checked the ring gap? What mixture have you run at the break in period? How has the break in been done? Speed, load, RPM?

    1984 force 125 spark issue

Do you have plug connectors to the CDI boxes or a terminal strip? If plug connectors check the connectors for corrosion or oxide at the pins and sleeves. If terminal stripe check the lugs for bad connection, especially under the heat shrink tubes. That was a common issue for these ignition systems.

    Fuel line for pressure tank

Very very common at old OMC OB with magneto ignition. Sierra and CDI Electronics has replacement for them.
