    usually tha top mounts that go first... there is a way ta change tha bottom mounts that without all tha work.. tha hot rodder's way.. if ya interested?.. works with motors making 300+ horse power so yours would be jus fine.............

    no...... that one is jus for "holding" tha flywheel so ya can turn tha nut...lotsa ways ta "hold it"...not really needed... a good impact will usually do tha nut.... ya need one like on ebay..

    ya gotta bring #1 up ta TDC.. then ya can place flywheel on to tha hub with pointer at "0" on tha flywheel.... all tha paint and rust marks should line up.. until ya get tha hub and flywheel back to gather and clocked right forget anything ta do with timin'........... get a real flywheel...

    leave ALL linkages and stops alone after you do tha link n sync..nothing on tha carbs or linkages used for settin idle tha only screw ya turn to adjust idle rpm/speed is tha 10/32 on tha timin' arm.... its right above tha bolt that holds tha timing/throttle arm on tha motor.. this needs ta be...

    thats why ya have tha link n sync thats done and locked down.. then ya go to all tha pri(idle)/max timing.. 99% of tha guys on here need ta go by tha OEM manual and be done with it....

    set max at 22*.. set pri/idle with boat in tha water, in gear to idle rpm/speed you and your motor are happy with.. book numbers don' mater for pri/idle.

    there is no confusion at all... they all are set in tha same way, jus different numbers.......... idle/pri has nothing ta do with changing max on tha V6 merc........... there are all kinds of tricks ta do with timing and linkage adjustments.. if ya not completely up on what works and what...
