    Sounds like it might be running on 1 cylinder.----Does spark jump a gap of at least 5/16" on both leads.----And post the compression values.----Yes , both pistons go to TDC together.----And both fire at the same time.----One being a " wasted spark " when piston is on exhaust stroke.

    4 days driving for me to get there.----But be careful with adjusting things.----Adjusting the idle stop screw and trunnion on the cable is where I would focus.

    A right hand unit ( in forward ) would LOCK turning the prop CCW and it would ratchet turning CW.

    Looks like a needle bearing to me.----And the crankshaft surface is part of the bearing.----Needles run on the crank.----Was that bearing carefully located on the dowel when you assembled this motor ?
