    Not common to go bad.----These were only used from 68 to 72 and most of these motors have disappeared.----Used parts are easy to find , depending on your location.

    Shocking what simple repairs cost at a shop.----Labor rates.----Make a tool from 1/4" x 2 " flat bar to unscrew the cap.----Not hard to do at home..

    I do not believe the yellow wires from the stator have anything to do with spark.

    Top up fluid level.------Or possibly a sticky valve assembly in hydraulic circuit.

    Test using the switch on the motor and also on the control box.-----Does the tilt motor operate both ways?----Explain exactly what is happening here !
