How do you guys mix Gas

That's true. Today's changes show modern chemistry at its finest. The right surfactant can do wonders. And the right emulsifier can make water blend with anything.

How do you guys mix Gas

Bold or not. You simply weren't respected. You said everything right. The bold was no reason to comment on.

How do you guys mix Gas

He was not shouting. He was emphasizing what was actually common knowledge for those that read boat books and such.. TCW3 mixes instantly. calibrate your gas gauge so you know how much gas you will be adding. Calculate (math) how much oil you need. Put the oil in. Add the gas. We are not...

    Evinrude 40 HP WorkTwin Question

I am that guy too. But I CAN count. Look at my signature.

    Evinrude 40 HP WorkTwin Question

I have a boating friend that couldn't change a sparkplug if his life depended on it. In my area nobody will even consider working on a 2-stroke. If anyone decides to buy an oldie, they must be a diy kinda guy.

    1969 25 Hp Johnny Rude/Kicker?

That's the deal of a century. The guy must have been desperate. You made out like a bandit.

    Wheel Bearing Inspection Interval

I used to pull and repack every year. Then I put on Bearing Buddies. I got lazy. Went 10 years and pulled them again. Sorry I did. All was fine and I wasted my time. Now half of my trailers have EZlubes. I follow the directions and grease once a year, just like with BBs. The ONLY time I...

    Parts availiability ??

Mother, apple pie and Chevrolet. Found on road dead; Fix or repair daily. It's all about what your father liked, brand loyalty you know. A spark plug either works or it doesn't. It either lasts long or lasts short. It meets the Owner's Manual or it doesn't. Personally I Prefer Smith &...

Decals for 1967 Evinrude 80HP Starflite

Are you a member of the Antique Classic Boat Society, or the Antique Outboard Motor Club, and is it your intention to enter the boat / motor in a sanctioned meet? If so, you will need period correct decals or your motor won't even place in the competition. If you simply want the motor to...

    Porpoising Assistance

I have tons of experience with hydrofoils on small outboards. In your case, that isn't what you need. I doubt that the extra 17 # is the culprit, per se'. You need to trim the motor in more.

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

An interesting concept, and certainly more valuable to collectors today than it was back during it's 2 year run. At the time it was simply too small to interest the masses, because higher HP models were available.

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

We are in our 70's and we still ride a supercharged jetski in addition to our boats. Maybe not like we stole it but we ain't slouches either. In recent years I have spent a lot more than 15K, the reason being that I don't want to EVER wear it out. I'm to old to fiddle any more. It has to go...

Where to find serial number of my motor?

In the olden days the plates were riveted on. These days some only have a sticker. Contact Tracker Marine - they are still in business.

    Seat Extension

I don't think there is a store-bought item you are looking for. I had a similar issue with aft seats years ago. I built a base out of 3/8" plywood and mounted it to the floor with pop rivets and angle brackets. The oem seat mounted easily on top. I covered the wood with vinyl from Joanne...

Penn Yan Commander 339 (33') with a tunnel hull

The surveyor can determine if there is moisture in the hull with his instruments. Truthfully, though, I would be surprised if you could NOT find some softness somewhere even without a surveyor. I don't know what their build schedule was back then. My next door neighbor as a 1946 Penn Yan and...

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

Consumer demand is what drives business. Many of us questioned BRP's wisdom of continuing with 2-strokes while all the other companies went to 4-strokes. Regardless of public concept, Government mandates is the root cause of the industry change. Surely, BRP still makes snowmobiles and PWCs...

Penn Yan Commander 339 (33') with a tunnel hull

A marine surveyor is the guy to make the judgement. They have the tools and know-how. Rot starts very early on. It starts at the bottom and continues year after year. If the deck is soft, everything below it is gone. If the deck is gone the transom is too. If you have a trailer boat and it...

What to do with my motor when towing?

They work quite well for 5's or 9.9's. But what do you do with a 25 that is hanging off the back of your transom out in the middle of the river?

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

Historically Evinrude has been one of the best outboards ever built. I have 39 of them in my collection. Regardless, BRP put them out of business. OMC did make a binnacle control, but after all these years trying to find old used parts are a chore. If you have a Suzy or Yami dealer local to...

Thinking of switching controls for an outboard

Trying to retrofit a 30 year old motor to more modern controls may not be a workable project. OMC has been out of business for many years and BRP has not been kind to us oldies. MY issue has been trying to find workable period correct parts and it has cost me a bundle.
