    I want to put the LU in the blast cabinet for paint prep . I guess I should plug all the holes and seal it up as best as possible ..The whole shift shaft assembly looks kinda scary to me . Is there any reason I should be digging into that ?

    You don’t have to take the skin off . It’s just easier to get it good and clean for best possible adhesion if you do open it up .. reuse the old inside skin or laminate new . You must add the spacers to keep its shape and finish thickness .. Make your own spacers or buy the pre made ones ..
