    Spun hub?

Get some sort of permanent marker...a scribe line where you cut through the paint to the aluminum would work. Scribe the line from the protrusion on the right side of the prop in picture #2 straight back to the main prop area and on across the main area enough to see that if the two parts move...

    Continuous Beep - Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

I don't have a 60 nor ever had one but I have it's big brothers the 90 and 115, 3 and 4 cyl. 2 strokers. Standing at the rear of the engine and looking at the back of the engine block...where the spark plugs are located, at the upper left corner of that "water jacket cover plate" is a scab on...

    2 stroke or 4 stroke

I'm going to say 2 stroke because 90 hp comes in 3 cyl. Most 4 strokers of that size use I4s as I recall......for a simplistic reply.

    2004 Mercury 115 hp starter

Engine to battery connections consist of large gauge, AWG 4 maybe, colored red for + and black for - wires. Black usually attaches under a engine block bolt (somewhere on the engine block also being where that large lug at the top of your pictures attaches), and Red goes to that 3/8" copper...

    2004 Mercury 115 hp starter

Never saw your starter buttttt basics tell me that the large black wired lug at the top goes to the engine block if the battery - is attached there or wherever the battery - is connected...has a high current path...like somewhere on the engine block. The signal wire to cause the solenoid close...

    2001 Mercury 60hp Bigfoot

Well sir I posted my understanding. I assume Merc got the idea from Scott Atwater back in the '60's where they had a 14 HP powerhead connected to one of their larger engines, 40 twin, 60 or 75 HP triple, lower units. Amazing what 14 HP could do with that and knew of at least 2 on toons....and...

2003 Fishmaster Travis edition 19 ft Identification issues

Travis Boat Sales on Highway 35E in Lewisville, Tx. used to sell them. I had one, as a matter of fact, was the second owner, 2 year old boat, 2002 edition..... my Avatar is it with a 90 Merc....kissing 50. It was aluminum Bass Boat, had a stepped hull so at the time the picture was taken...

    2001 Mercury 60hp Bigfoot

I assume your boat is a flat bottom, aluminum, open construction, cross seat, engine operated from the rear seat with an attached tiller handle, or possibly a side mounted console mounted just forward of the rear cross seat with a steering wheel and remote controls type boat used for things...

2000 Mercury (Tracker) 125 2+2 motor making gas slicks in idle

Ever replaced your fuel lines? Running ethanol, I found that 10 years and time for new on a 2002 90 triple of the series. Other place would be carb needle valve not shutting off fuel to carb bowl like it should and fuel comes out the carb venturi, especially when running tilted up...

    Prop question

I'd check the tach for accuracy. The rest of the inputs are pretty solid....gear ratio won't change, prop pitch won't change, GPS by all counts is dead-nuts-on, so what's left? Maybe you have the dial on the back of the tach at the wrong number.

    Need the Prop Gurus!

Some body is telling you a story: https://www.go-fast.com/Knowledge-base/Find-your-prop-slip/Prop-slip-calculator Your slip is minus 15.....a screw turning in a block of wood is a slip of zero. Fast boats run in the positive single digits.

    Two year old fuel

"The biggest problem with old, bad gas is varnish. It hardens in the lines and blocks them, the carbs, and/or fuel injectors and such." You just answered a question I've had for a long time and just didn't pay attention to what I saw. On several occasions I came acroll tan material primarily...

    Prop question

Used to be that aluminum props were basic design thrust devices that didn't have all the goodies you'll find in SS props....detailed up at the top of this screen under "Shop" and then go to "Props" and then go to the "Tutorial". Every one of these goodies makes for different outcomes. SS...

    Need the Prop Gurus!

Don't know when Merc started prop rating their engines but they have been accused of running high for their posted ratings. So, you could be running a 100 hp by today's standards, but even at that, that's a big engine for a 16' boat with any kind of a planing hull. What is the history on the...

    Steering cable

Only problem with a cable is NO kinks. All sweeping turns. If you have to force the turn the radius is too short. Result is kink in center conductor and once kinked, forget it. Yes if too long you can make an S out of the cable to take up the extra length, but sweeping S.......If too short...

Fixing holes in aluminum boat transom

If you had some sheet alum, or even heavy plastic cut a square somewhat larger than the hole, rough up with sand paper, degrease/clean both surfaces and attach with JB weld....if you aren't picky about looks.

How do I properly mount a transducer on a 12 valco v-hull aluminum boat?

Shouldn't have any bubbles with a TM for power...too slow to generate such. On mount anywhere I mounted mine inside the boat with a" hard setting" epoxy. You are transmitting sound waves and they travel through aluminum better than through the water....more dense. Only reason not to do that...

    Prop for 60HP Bigfoot

Top of this page, under parts, search for Props. Pull up Props and besides a questionnaire you fill out to find a prop selection to fit your needs, there is a tutorial about props that will answer your I don't know questions. Propeller efficiency drops as the number of blades is increased (per...

How can i tell how old my sea king 12 ft boat is

Sea King motors built by OMC (builders of Johnson and Evinrude) and boats were popular back in the mid to late 50's thru mid 60's as I recall for a rough ball park. Alum. boats last through eternity...less the transom wood (which can be easily replaced) if abused. Some have rivets loose that...

    Stuck lower unit

From Chris1956: "The shiftshaft coupler is splined to mate with the shiftshaft. One could reach under the lower carb and move the shiftshaft up/down to see if it is corroded together at the junction." That's a great idea and I would think a candidate for a "Sticky" considering the outcome if...
