    transom repair options

Following along. I lived in Pasadena for a few years shortly after college. I didn't do any boat work out there, but recall it sure got hot in the summer. So, working temperatures may be a consideration when you get to the glassing stage. I've seen a few transoms done from the outside, but...

    Help water leaking

Welcome to iBoats . . . It could be a number of things, so you should have a closer look and get a few more pictures if you can. Some possibilities are: Hose clamp loose Engine block drain loose Crack-in-the-block Can you tell us bit about the engine's history?

    Rotella ELC coolant in Mercruiser?

What about Walmart or automotive stores? The West Marine price seems a bit steep. Lots of brands of EG coolant that should be fine. I've used all sorts of EG coolant in my Mercruiser 7.4 engines.

    My boat is being a boat . . .

The 'Diacom Laptop' now has its own hard shell case for keeping it on the boat. This is a substantial upgrade from the cardboard box I used last year, which I think contributed to the prior laptop's demise. .

4.3 running great accelerated slowly died. No power at key, no click, nothing.

Use your multimeter and see where you have voltage and where you don't. As mentioned in the 2 posts above, you've got your initial things to check and see where that leads you. Aren't boats fun?

    Faria SmartCraft Speedometer???

Quick Update . . . Looks like I was going by the wrong version of the manual. It seems that these gauges are the Faria MG3000 (Not the SC1000). Must have been a senior moment 🤪. . . I did find a wiring diagram in the MG3000 manual that is making some sense. (The manual does not appear to be...

Kodiak Anchor - Made by SouthCoast Marine . . .???

I'm thinking the top piece (which I asked the welder to put on) is making it stronger than it ever was. :D

Catastrophic Engine Electronic Failure?!? Diagnosis Help!

What's the engine diagnostics tell you when you hook the computer up to it? Are you able to record engine data when the engine is running?

Kodiak Anchor - Made by SouthCoast Marine . . .???

$220 later, I have the anchor back all fixed. Straightened & Strengthened The welder put a 1-1/2" bar of SS across the top of the shank to keep from bending (again). . . . . Next week, I'll see if it fits (it should) and get it all hooked up. Also need to round the corners of the bow roller.

    1999 Bryant gelcoat repair

Well, I looked on the Spectrum Color website and they only list color matches back to 2011 for Bryant. You could search there or buy the Evercoat kit from iBoats . . . https://www.iboats.com/shop/paint-and-maintenance/fiberglass-and-epoxy-boat-repair/evercoat-gel-coat-repair-kit.html Keep in...

Hesitation/RPM Hunting on 496 Mag HO

Something like what you are describing really needs the full computer diagnostics to figure out. It sounds like you did the code scan, but often these issues will not create a fault code. I see that you have taken a few shots at it with the 'parts cannon' to no avail. If you already addressed...

    Fuel efficiency for long-ish trip

Without having a Flowscan, SmartCraft or a similar 'techy' solution, it is going to be a bit of guess work. 3500 RPM would be a good guess. You want to be enough above your minimum planing speed in order to gain some efficiency, but not too fast as efficiency drops off. (Take a look at some...

    Source for mooring chain/hardware?

@nola mike I had some trouble finding the correct size (small link) chain when I added a windlass to my Formula 330. Everything at the big box stores and online was 'standard' link size. I finally found some at North Falmouth Hardware, (tell them I sent ya  ) So, try the local...

    Sound deadening

I'm all for the egg crate stuff. I know 'marine' grade sound insulation has a foil layer to it, but the flat surface does not seem like sound deadening to me (more like sound reflecting) :p .
