    Prop selection 1998 fishin barge

Having had a Force predecessor, a new 1972 Chrysler cross flow, 2 stroke 85 hp triple, up against my buddies (at the time) Loop charged OMC engines of lesser HP, they could run right up there with me on speed, comparable boats, and do it on (guessing) ⅔ the gas.

    Aluminum fish and ski

I'm currently running a 2002 Crestliner Fish Hawk 1750 dual console with a 115 Merc. so I can vouch for the Crestliner hull which I really like, especially the "reverse chine" aspect of the hull.....makes for fast planing, tight turning, good dry ride characteristics without having to have the...

disable auto oiler on 90hp 2000 elpto

I decided my 2002 90 2 stroker self oiler was keeping me awake at night, about the year 2012. So I took 3 bolts out holding the oil pump in place and temporarily removed one fuel like to facilitate removal. I flipped the pump body over for access and reached into it and pulled out the drive...

    Premium Gas for 50hp & 7.5hp 2-Stroke Outboards

I am currently running premium gasoline and NGK iridium plugs. Not about to change. Things didn't start out that way....they evolved.....for the better for me and my rig! Decided to give my little 2 and 4 stroke engines around the farm the same treatment......not about to change.

    Diagnosing 75hp ELPTO starting problem

I'd replace the "rest of the rubber" too: Fuel lines, fuel pump kit, squeeze bulb and tank to engine hose, put in carb kits, if it has a fuel filter change that too. You already told us, with what you did and the response you got, that you have lack of adequate fuel problems. Check the LU for...

    Stainless Steele or NO..

So decide what you want to do with the boat, where you want to run, are you a cruiser or a speed joc, current parameters and current prop ID and come back on here. We'll either confuse you big time, or get you on track....usually the latter.

    Stainless Steele or NO..

I agree on the plastic replaceable hubs being sacrificial.

    Stainless Steele or NO..

I run SS and has been my preference since my new 1972 125 HP Johnson would bend the prop on something...sometimes a 2" sapling in a freshly filled lake, on every outing it seemed. I am not a buzz head but I do like to run the throttle at the firewall on occasion and make tight turns and run the...

Ran into a reef & 10 hour service

I have also seen a metal cap attached with a couple of screws....looks to be SS. I suppose you cut off, or something removed, the lower part of the skeg and you just bolt it to the stub. The LU is an "investment" aluminum casting and is strong yet brittle. It has already moved in one...

    Long shaft vs short shaft

I used a 10' Lowe brand Lake John for years with a 7 ½ Merc. For a 10' John, it was wider and higher sides. I chose 10' because of the car-top usage and confined spaces where I boated at the time...maneuverable easily with a paddle. The 7 ½ planed it out fast on the hole shot and a good clip...

My mentioned 4 blade is a Solas. Very impressed with the finish, seems to be very high nickel content to reduce corrosion and maintain the shine. Performance as I stated, blade geometry, nice cupping for grip and blade shape to support mid range stern lifting....like I said, made for the...

    Long shaft vs short shaft

Looks like a 20" to me too. On 9.9, what's your pleasure? You alone with tackle should plane out nicely if you distribute your contents to get some weight forward....tiller operated boats usually have a bow high problem when single occupant.....a fishing buddy solves that problem but git a...

The diameter comes in a range to fit the LU. Once in that range...13-14" for 115 range of engines, the diameter varies as a function of the prop design and varies by fractions of an inch. Don't loose any sleep on matching that up or not once in range.

Should I buy a boat that has been sitting in storage for 15 years?

Yeah and I haven't seen any old boats or parts of boats sitting around any landfills here! Don't walk away from that nightmare......RUN!!!!!!!!

    Long shaft vs short shaft

Since you are talking about 15 hp, you can add a 5" extension to your transom....BTDT. You can build up some quality plywood to the thickness required to match the current transom and cover it with sheet aluminum or if in fresh water, galvanized steel...probably easier to get....AC duct work...

I just did the same thing with my 115 Merc on a Crestliner 1750 Fish Hawk. I was running a 3 blade SS 20P name brand performance prop and wanted what you want. Went to a 4 blade 19P SS performance prop. Difference was what I wanted and top end dropped about 5-10% as one would expect. Very...

Should I buy a boat that has been sitting in storage for 15 years?

Clear title would be my first concern then address the other things mentioned. 15 years and a boat in storage, owner could easily misplace title. Next the trailer (assuming one) tags expire annually. If not renewed and one attempts to register/title it the question comes up to the county...

    Diagnosing 75hp ELPTO starting problem

How long since last operation does matter. Running yesterday vs 3 months ago makes starting obviously easier and fuel availability in the combustion chamber is the reason. Every engine I ever owned had it's procedure and that procedure varied as the time of year, environment, and minutes to...
