2007 Honda 225 loss of power

Whole lot of rpm missing if the boat hit 6000 rpm when you got it. Could be a throttle position issue. injectors could need cleaned. How long since the motor had a good health check up?

Steering play in Helm Teleflex Tilt Rotary Hub

Make sure the nut holding the steering cable in the helm is tight. Had a Sea Star hydraulic steering kit in my shopping cart. Ran out to the boat to get a last minute measurement to order the hoses. By chance, found the cable nut had backed off a 1/4 turn. Put a wrench on it, problem gone...

    Add cleat to trailer?

Unfortunately, that wouldn't work for me. Roller trailer with electric winch. 5/8" rode would not fit through bow eye with winch still attached. Use the "bow lifting ring" (center line cleat) rated for the weight of the boat

Why I'm nervous boating at night...

Coming back into the inlet from 20 miles south late one night. Nothing on radar......caught the "flick of a BIC" out the corner on my eye passing the outer buoy. Two people in a small skiff tied to the buoy. Using a lighter to signal passing boats as they went by. I immediately cut the...

    Vault Wheel Hubs

You don't.... You can carry a spare hub or an entire hub/spindle assembly if you your torsion axle have removable spindles. A lot easier to change than rebuild on the side of the road.

My Boat cut out when I hit a decent size wave today. Merc A1G1 3.0.

The fact that it died and would restart would lead me to the kill or shift switch. Only thing I can think of the would instantly kill a motor yet come right back up w/o intervention

    Glass Fuse Amp?

A fuse is a fuse…. Glass or ceramic doesn’t matter, well at least in this application. Forgetting to hook up a positive lead will not blow a fuse. That is, unless the circuit in question is being back feed from another circuit. In that case, all bets are off Either they didn't match up the...

    Needing a t top

No mention of attachment to boat.... referring to assembly instructions showing the frames are screwed together with set screws and pole and socket connections. Mine is welded (OEM). 2" diameter, schedule 40 aluminum tubing. Have repaired (welded) a couple of small stress cracks in the primary...

    Vault Wheel Hubs

You would have too.......they not "field" repairable. Any attempt to do would void the 5 year, upgrade to 10 year, warranty that comes with them

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

A 26' Shamrock made the short list when I bought the Grady years back. Diesel, great fuel efficiency with a trolling valve but the speed........would have to leave a day earlier to get there on time

    Vault Wheel Hubs

I would agree……flawed installation procedures and components are responsible for the vast majority of failures. The shaft tolerances and surface roughness for seals in particular, are quite tight even in machinist terms. H11 tolerances are pretty standard. Who here checks shaft tolerances...

I was going to use Rust-Oleum Topside Paint, but then I accidentally discovered COMET cleaner..

You see that quite a bit on the internet, but I suspect the root of it goes back to the days of Naugahyde. Modern day vinyl (flexible PVC) and stitching (nylon) both have excellent chemical resistance to sodium hyperchoride (bleach) I suspect the continued caution for using bleach as a...

    Vault Wheel Hubs

Which version do you want to discuss.....lol There have been many versions of "sealed", grease and oil hubs fitting your description that have come and gone in the past 10-15 years. All involved rather high inital costs and involved maintenance procedures that the normal owner doesn't have...

    Needing a t top

Pretty flimsy…, 1.5” diameter tube but no thickness or weight given Cant see a screw together design lasting very long given the pounding. CANOPY IS RATED FOR UP TO 45 MPH. Please remove canopy when driving above rated speed. Not being able to go above 45 mph without removing the canopy is a...

Need with what Battery is needed

Interesting…..those I’ve worked with only close (combine) the two batteries once the “primary” (start) battery is fully charged and the motor is producing excess current. Closes: 13.6 V for 30 seconds 13.0 volts for 90 seconds Opens: 12.35 V for 10 seconds 12.75 V for 30 seconds

    Prop question

Looks like your WOT range is 5150 to 5850. if that's true, you're 400-500 rpm shy of where you want to be What diameter is that 11" prop? A 4 blade is going to make things worst. If your go with the rule of thumb, 200=1, you need to drop down to 8 or 9" prop. Don't know that they even make...
