    your mechanic is an idiot. there is the 1990 and older with the 153 tooth flywheel and the 1991 and later with the 168 tooth flywheel. the mounting patterns on the flywheel housing is the same for all years which is the SBC bolt pattern.

    the cylinder heads are standard 118cc open chambers. the pistons look to be 20 to 30 cc domes. assuming a .030 overbore. the compression ratio is in the 9.6-10.5 range. which is pushing it with iron heads unless you run high octane.

    If it's a whole house genny, it comes in the sound attenuated enclosure. The radiator fan will keep air moving past the radiator and muffler If you build one, you need to keep air flow thru the most as the CO monitor will shut it down in a box. It will also overheat

    The compression ratio needs to be seriously looked at for a marine build. Forged internals generally not needed unless running WOT for a really long time. A full neutral balance rotating assembly will do more to keep the motor together
