    Agree. Just that the way I use the boat…it’s often in that in between stage and can easily flood. Just got rid of it and warmed it up manually really. Always knew where you were then. Can’t disagree with what you’re saying though. Different in a car perhaps.

    Almost certainly bad fuel. Ditch it, flush and replenish with new. Filter change and most likely need a carb clean now too. Should be good. If you are keen…you could run it off a remote fuel tank to see what’s what. If the carb needs cleaned though…might not be too conclusive

    Hi. Always a little slack to take up, as said above…but most common is to find the steering bush needs replacing on these, certainly by now, if it’s not already. Will be quite obvious from external inspection. If there is sloppy play in the outdrive side to side.

    Thanks for the info. Don’t think it is an excel. Had it in mind that they might be 2.7l maybe ? It’s just like the usual 200 of that era..but a 225. I think the 200 version is about 220-230kgs. The optimax is about 225-230kgs I think.

    It’s neither Dingbat. It’s a 225 from around 87’. Not many of them around I’d think. 2.6l carb. Yeah. Aware of the dfi oil. Will still be a saving there. With the oil the old Yamaha uses. He also mixes a little in the tank too, being cautious. All round costs a fortune to run really.
