    I would just use tubing and angle.-----Use 2 pieces of tubing for each knee and 3/16" angle to rivet to bottom and bolt to transom.

    I would use 2X3" aluminum tubing to fabricate a structure or maybe 2 knees.----Along with some welding.-----Aluminum sheet does not always like being bent.

    You might find a pipe plug near spark plugs.----A water pressure gauge could be fitted.----And install a new impeller every 5 years.

    Well ---I know it is a V-4.----But from 1995 to 1998 there were 2 totally different V-4 mofels !

    Where did you look on the parts break down.-----We need to know if it is a 2 cylinder motor or a 3 cylinder motor.----Model # is ?

    Sounds like a bad switch box.-----There are of them.----You could test by swapping them and see if there is no spark on 1 , 3 and 5 and spark on 2 , 4 and 6.

    Salty are you sure this motor has a 2 wire heat sensor , along with limp mode ?

    There is a spring affair on the choke linkages.----A much mis-understood item.-----Maybe a previous owner was baffled by it and hooked it up wrong.----Remember we can not see , hear or feel your motor !

    Sounds like it is running on 1 cylinder.---Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more on both leads ?
