Marine Carpet Glue For Wood Decking

Screws for seat pedestals, 6 screws per pedestal. Rot also started under the rear seat boxes due to moisture getting back there and carpet keeps it from evaporating. Carpet was glued down.... and ALL the dark spots in the old deck I ripped up 15+ years ago, started wherever there was a screw...

4.3 runs great for about 30 minutes then bogs, pops won't accelerate

The part that makes you appear cocky, is this simply put: you don't read a Merc shop manual....in the days before the instant advice internet, THAT, was how you learned, and it's still the best way, if you take the time to do so. And nobody here is looking over your shoulder to see how you're...

Valvoline ZR-1 has a very high level of zinc, in a 20/50 weight it should be great for a flat tappet engine.

    5.7L Non-Vortec to Vortec conversion

thanks for the info, you just confirmed what I've been thinking of when I have to repower, go local. Between mistakes and shipping costs, it makes more sense. I can rent a U-Haul to pick up an engine for way less than what shipping costs.

    2015 Motor MerCruiser 4.5L 250hp NO EC - OVERHEATING!

Just to show how different systems are from one another, on my old OMC/Volvo style cooling system here are the normal temps: engine warmed up at idle speed: with dash gauge reading 160* and a 160* thermostat.... top of thermostat housing, 135*, intake manifold right under where the stat housing...

    2015 Motor MerCruiser 4.5L 250hp NO EC - OVERHEATING!

Thanks to All Dodge for info on how these newer systems work and glad you’re getting better results. Hope the water test goes well. BTW the deposits you see in an engine that’s been run in the salt are actually calcium more so than salt which dissolves easily in water. This is what I saw in my...

Marine Carpet Glue For Wood Decking

Mine was built that way & what happened after about 15 years it rotted wherever the seat mounting screws went through. When I redid it I had the shop gel coat it in non skid gel coat & all seat mounting screws sealed with 4200. 15 years later it’s still solid. So no carpet for me in a boat...

    Overheated 1989 4.3 OMC questions...

You can see that the outlets on these are pretty small, I had them on my 4.3 as well, after 5.5 seasons in salt water they looked like the one on the right. I had 3 sets of these on my '88 4.3 here in the salt you have to change them every 5-7 years, or else, you have overheats, or a hydrolock...

Marine Carpet Glue For Wood Decking

If you have a plywood deck even if coated in resin remember polyester resin is not waterproof like epoxy is…I would never put carpet over a plywood deck…..either marine paint with anti slip or gel coat with anti slip. Carpet holds moisture and rots plywood decks.

    Volvo Penta 5.0 GXI-E - Won't roll over

Don’t forget about the distributor cap they are known to fail often. Should really be replaced at the start of each season to avoid problems.

1989 Bayliner Trophy OMC 5.8L - Help with new boat

There are a few tests to see if you are getting full throw in FWD and REV. After you do the adjustment, with the KEY OUT, get a helper to work the shifter for you. Go to the back of boat and spin the prop while the helper shifts into FWD, it should lock firmly in FWD. Do the same for REV. If it...

1989 Bayliner Trophy OMC 5.8L - Help with new boat

Ok here’s what can go wrong with the Cobra adjustments: #1, basically can’t change #2, if the cable gets sticky or crud builds up behind the shifter bellcrank you might not get full shift throw. When you set the transom shift cable you first measure cable drag by disconnecting it at both ends &...

1989 Bayliner Trophy OMC 5.8L - Help with new boat

This is a 2 cable system & for it to work there are 3 separate adjustments: 1) shift rod adjustment in the lower unit with the drive off 2) also with the drive off, the transom shift cable adjustment; this requires 2 special tools; one to hold the shift bell crank @ 90* to the pivot housing...

    2015 Motor MerCruiser 4.5L 250hp NO EC - OVERHEATING!

Ok I’d like to see you do the same test with the boat backed into the water. That way no confounding variables like sucking a bit of air which can happen on the water muffs. BTW the only advance warning I got on my engine before I had water in the cyls was when I did a Blackstone oil analysis...

    2015 Motor MerCruiser 4.5L 250hp NO EC - OVERHEATING!

Also, believe it or not, this Merc 4.5 that you have, really appears to be an adaptation of the old GM 4.3 V6 you see in my pix. Yours has a balance shaft, slightly modified cyl heads and a modern EFI system but the basic design is very very similar. The one down side is that engine parts come...

    2015 Motor MerCruiser 4.5L 250hp NO EC - OVERHEATING!

Ok let me make sure I'm understanding what you're saying...you get air bubbles from the hoses marked in blue from the cross over to the manifolds when the engine is on, but water flows when you shut it off? Now one thing with this test, is it can be inaccurate if done with the water muffs on...

    1978 Islander 22 I/O

They are good engines but some of the parts are hard to find. You can also go with a GM 4.3 V6 Vortec which with a 4 bbl carb will give you 225 hp.
