    1979 3.0L OMC coil

Rockauto will ship international and they have the coil you need. Actually I’m 90% positive that the points and condenser for a 1965 Chevy 2 4cyl will also fit your distributor meaning you can get everything you need from them.

    1979 3.0L OMC coil

You don’t want to switch to pertronix. It’s less reliable than points. Delco voyager if you really have to have electronic. Just go to the parts store and tell them you need a coil for a 1965 Chevy II with a 153. Pretty sure it’s a 1.5 ohm, but that’ll get you a coil that will work

    Boat age vs financing.

I’m not buying anything just yet. I’ve seen a handful of these Sylvan Offshores though and they have major plusses as they are all 22’. Most Islanders are 19’. The downside is I’m pretty sure they all used OMC in the 80s

That was a consideration. I wouldn’t want to do a deep dive into making it reliable just to pull it out eventually though. Which is why I was considering doing the SEI leg conversion

    Boat age vs financing.

So, another Sylvan Offshore 22’ popped up on Facebook for $2,500. 3.0 OMC Cobra. Ultimately I would discount anything OMC but for well below 1/2 price, there could be something to it. Is the SEI Mercruiser conversion worthy if the engine and manifolds are good? I have a complete 3.0L Mercruiser...

    Hangkai 6hp Outboard Maintenance

You would need some kind of lighting coil for it to work. What you need probably exists. It’s going to be a charging stator. You won’t need a regulator for what you want as the 110V plug should be able to take care of the voltage's. But if you add a regulator, you could keep a small battery...

    Commonality with Auto Works

My truck which is a ‘21 Ranger will randomly trigger the collision prevention system ( which Ford calls Co pilot 360 ).. it does nothing except turn a siren and blinking lights on the dash, but it freaks me out every time. It’s only a handful of times it’s done it. I’m sure the collision...

I can’t sell the Offshore just yet, as it’s still not water ready, and due to going through a lost registration recovery, I have a non transferable Registration for 6 months. I’ll likely have the Offshore running mint next year and have it advertised while still using it. One of the parts...

If I was ready, this boat would be in my wheelhouse. Little older but checks all the boxes. https://www.boats.com/power-boats/1985-starcraft-191-islander-6323488/ And something like that I’d just pay cash

    Boat age vs financing.

Oh I wouldn’t finance a project. I would finance something ready to go. Right now there are nice projects around, but I don’t want anything OMC powered even though I have a complete 3.0L Alpha setup that is a spare. But also, right now my lots full so to speak. 2 parts boats, my little StarCraft...

I have the option of putting a cabin on my Offshore. I’m not really sure about that yet but it’s an option My wife is letting me entertain the idea of financing something, but I would be stuck with it for a while.. I could open up to something like a C Dory or a Bayliner trophy as well. We...

Run Merc 3.0LX on external fuel tank

Primer bulb isn’t any more necessary than with an inboard tank. The line will hold enough fuel to get it running. They are prohibited on inboard installations

Run Merc 3.0LX on external fuel tank

The line inside of the bilge area needs to be the non permeable type. Yes the tank needs to be above deck

Run Merc 3.0LX on external fuel tank

It can’t have a primer bulb. But I think as long as you have the non permeable line below deck, you’ll be legal.
