    Troubleshooting stiff throttle

There should be something in the inside by where your hand is that provides tension to the throttle cam.. show a picture of the entire control.

    Hangkai 6hp Outboard Maintenance

I ran a 3.5hp Hangkai on a seahawk 3 using their optional transom. It did work but it was sketchy.. make no mistake, they are just pool toys

    Hangkai 6hp Outboard Maintenance

Hangkai engines that look ‘real’ are straight up copies of Yamaha motors. The 6hp is probably one of them, but they do have one that is basically a weed wacker engine that they rate at 6hp too. The fact your going to put this on an intex inflatable rated for 1.5hp is scary.

    Favorite motor flushers?

I had a small mishap today.. put the new carb on my 3.0L, and got it to run. Wife was helping me and we couldn’t find what I call my “ good pair of ears “. I used a pair with a wire frame and rectangle rubber gaskets that literally came with my house ( and a pretty nice outboard stand ). I...

    Vault Wheel Hubs

So the reason that Dexter can say that, is because it’s an oil type bearing and is fully sealed. A grease type ( run of the mill ) hub is not 100% water tight in all instances. It is good enough for dunking, but they do need to be checked and serviced

    What control cables are these?

Seems like Mercury gen 1 cables are pretty close to those. I bet they are old Mercury cables

    Trim Limit and Sender Help

I think the trim limit sender can be hooked up either way. Wires on my 1986 alpha gen 1 3.0l were both grey. Trim position sender may be polarity sensitive

recommendations for a little starting battery or should I run long wires?

The length of the boat will determine the gauge of cables you can get away with. You’ll have no problem with the setup as long as your cables are adequate . If you are looking for just a small battery for starting, a good U1 or U1R lawnmower battery has a 350 CCA capacity which will spin over...

    Topside Painting Question.

There are a few 2k clear coats that will work on rust oleum, but some will react. A clear that is safe for acrylic enamel is what you want. In general you don’t need it

    Troubleshooting stiff throttle

Seems you are talking about the throttle. Perhaps the carburetor is binding or, an internal tension adjustment in the control box is too tight. Did you buy one of those Chinese carbs? Throttle shafts could be too tight or you have the wrong throttle leg on it. Regardless, alpha gen 1 should...

Buy a used block will parts swap?????

If saltwater entered that block, something would have went very wrong. All 3.7s have a closed cooling system

Mercruiser 3.0 Alpha One Gen 2

Speedo doesn’t use a cable. It’s a pitot tube which uses water pressure

Fuel injector plastic tip fell into intake hole... now what?

LS injectors are pretty cheap. But those are not correct for a marine engine

    PCV valve/blow by issue

They will, but I would recommend going through it before you run it.. and I wouldn’t pay much. If you are up to bullet proofing it. Add an aluminum head. It needs to have BBF ports as some aftermarket BBF heads come with BBC exhaust ports… but you put an aluminum head on it, you’ll have better...

Joined the Starmada. kind of unexpectedly

Well my ignition switch problem wasn’t the switch. It was me.. I omitted the fuel gauge from the old parts boat gauge pack as I have fuel gauges on the gunnel. That left an extra power and an extra ground.. me being a dum dum put the extra power ontop of the volt meter stud, making everything...

    PCV valve/blow by issue

nothing wrong with a good 3.7l.. key point being a good 3.7L. It was a good idea with a few shortcomings that mercruiser abandoned because of the 4.3L

Convert 14ft aluminum closed bow to open

By the looks of it, needs a transom first. Most aluminum boats that are runabouts, it doesn’t hurt anything. But that one is one of a handful of manufacturers from the mid 50s and may have been constructed differently

    Say it ain’t the transom!

Could be the water hose through the gimbal housing.
