    The R terminal was used for points ignition. It's common with later motors to not have anything wired to it

    Yes, The R terminal provides power during cranking Then after cranking, the oil pressure switch provides power unless the motor dies and oil pressure goes away. Then it kills power to the fuel pump meeting the requirements for shutting off fuel I currently run both ignition power and fuel...

    Relay coil is not voltage direction sensitive.

    No, that is the crank signal yo the S terminal. You want to wire to the R terminal

    The terminals on both the relay and the switch should be labeled Oil pressure gauges go to a gauge sender Pics don't currently work

    Agreed... Most likely the overheating baked the regulator The 470 can not have even a 10 degree overheat If you maxed the temp gauge, most likely you will find other things baked
