    Water in Bellows

In addition to what was mentioned above - if someone left the bilge plug in and it was stored outdoors you can fill the bellows from high water in the bilge. I had some slight scuffing on my bellows on outside edge where it rubs against the gimbal ring and pivot pins. Was not quite through last...

Engine Alignment tool goes in about 1/4 of the way, question.

Knock it in with a driver around the outer race. I think a piece of 3" sch 40 pvc will work. If it is bottomed out you will see it doesn't move. Probably some youtube vids you can look at this has a decent picture of where the gimbal bearing sits vs the lip on the gimbal housing

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

But does it need to come out? Could be wrong but noise doesn't sound like a rod or main bearing.

    Over heating 1988 mercruiser 185 4.3

Those hoses should be cold. They let a constant flow of raw water through to cool the exhaust regardless of if the thermostat is open or closed if they let too much water by the engine gets starved of incoming water and will over heat

Not sure what this vent cap looks like or if it is a welch plug but I would think you could JB Weld it back in

Mercruiser 170 - Spark at distributor, not plugs

Wouldn't assume because it is new it is ok. Button in cap needs to contact the rotor - if not you will lose spark in the beginning of this video there is a nice strong spark off a coil with points ignition - you have a nice blue spark like that? Note what he says about dwell vs point gap around...

Mercruiser 170 - Spark at distributor, not plugs

If dwell is way off you may be able to make a weak spark at coil but not be strong enough to go through rotor wires and jump at the plugs. the dwell measures the amount of time in distributor rotation that the coil is building up energy before it fires (points closed if i recall). If dwell...

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Not a leap just spit balling. If you can support the end of the engine you can remove the front mount and pull the cover off, but I am not sure if you can re-isntall with out dropping the oil pan.

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Outside of Philly myself Did u measure the lift on the valves ? Wonder if u have a flat cam lobe. I know y tightened rockers but wonder if you are getting full lift ? 3.0 uses timing gears might have wear and backlash ? Could probably check by taking cap of dist and move crank back and forth...

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Doesnt sound like a rod or main knock to me. Might loosen up the belt and run it with out the accessories and water pump turning. Sounds more top end to me, hard to diagnose from keyboard but I wouldn't be tearing it out just yet.

    Budget Boat Covers

I got one out of Overton's years back that held up pretty well for the cost of the cover ($250-300). It worked out perfectly for what I had which was a 20+ year old boat that I didn't want to spend big $ on a custom cover

Well it happened. Water in oil

Flapper is possible, but I had mine basically roached for years when I changed it and never got water back in. Would test the manifold with acetone to see if it leaks, or was that included in the pressure test? Is it getting up to temp? Might be condensation if the thermostat is stuck open...

    Chattering in out drive

I was surprised how inexpensive the OEM gearsets are for your drive - Like $125 depending on ratio. I thought gear were more expensive than that

Where are the rear motor mounts on a mercruiser 120?

Use two long extensions on a 1/2" drive breaker bar.. You can get the engine out quick but if you have a rod or main bearing knock just replacing the bearing isn't going to do you any good with out having it remachined. Need to check the journals for size and resize as needed. Did you rule...

Mercruiser 6.2 cracked engine block from cold

In Latvia SBC parts aren't laying around like they are over here... Yes he can swap out entire bobtails if he likes. Unless he gets complete engines piecing all the parts together you will spend as much as a long block
