Can electrical power be pulled from a 25hp Merc outboard?

Easiest would be to buy him a couple or three new batteries so he could switch them out during the long fishing days. Or buy a service manual with wiring diagrams for the motor. Or buy him the upgrade at the dealer. Might as well add the electric start while its there. Great Christmas present...

surface gap plugs are great. the center electrode will burn/wear down just like a regular plug, so inspect once a year. keep your 50:1 mixed accurately and they will not foul.

Bayliner....no clearance to remove steering cable?

Disconnect cable from helm. Hoist motor up and back to remove cable from motor. Pull old cable out the stern. Buying a small engine hoist from HF or Northern tool or ebay for $99 - $179 would be cheaper than taking it to a shop, and a lot faster this time of year.

And even with a 4 stroke, the exhaust chemical byproducts are dumped into the lake. Clearly not as much, but would you consider pumping your lawnmower exhaust through your kitchen faucet? It is what it is. The oil came from the earth and is returned to the earth.

    Please help,at my wits end

Yeah, the think/speak/auto type feature on my phone doesn't do well either. If it is leaking, sucking air into engine, it will be running lean, and cause high revs. With engine running, spray starting fluid around outside of carbs and manifold. If it sucks it in, revs should fluctuate. Motor...
