I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

I couldn't do any actual work on the boat today so I messed with the photo. Flipped the pic upside down so that boat is right side up. Changed the accent stripe - moved it closer to the spray rail. Added a Starcraft Logo at the back. Added example registration numbers. I think I'm getting...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yes, we did try mineral spirits but "The Blob" just laughed at that. I'll try xylene tomorrow. Temps are down in the 50s now and won't make it back into the 70s again until late this week. This last little bit of stripping will have to wait awhile longer.

    A closer look.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

It's 74 degrees here now and I'm stuck in the house instead of working on the boat. My young neighbor bud came over this morning and we got the KF off the saw horses and back down on the dollies. I was going to start putting more stripper on but we ended up just shooting the breeze for an hour...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Boo Yah!! That new aircraft stripper is AWESOME! Voila! It says Aircraft Remover right on the label but when we were all done, my old RC plane was still hanging up there! This stripper is already thick out of the can and doesn't need any flour or anything to help it stick to the...

Newish Bass Tracker opinions. Lengthy opinionated question

Hey, I want to stick my two cents in here but I'm really short on time. I'll check back in later though. I will say this much... I have been in your exact situation in the past and can offer a viewpoint. My 1985 Bass Tracker TX-17. My 1984 Winner bass n ski. (sorry for the horrible...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Sitting here this morning, thinking about what I need to do today. :ranger: Looked at that color scheme and made a little change which I think looks much better. Removed the black trim below the bow eye. Cleaner. Mind you, I'm not trying to hide 42 years of bumps, bruises, cuts and scrapes...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Y'all do realize that it's been over a YEAR since the KF was on the water, right? Jan 12, 2017 was the last time it got wet! Jeez, this "simple re-power" sure is taking a long time! So this evening I was doing some photo editing to show my wife the proposed black/white color scheme...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

So what to do about this blotch at the bow? It sorta looks like road tar that got splashed up there somehow. We hit it with stripper a couple times. No joy. Then Goo Gone followed by WD-40. Same same. It feels kinda rubbery to me, although I haven't given it my full attention yet. Any...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

We really turned a corner with the boat stripping today! Literally and figuratively! :D Started out with GREAT weather! Temps outside were 75 degrees and inside the garage it had to be over 80, so we opened the doors and windows and let the sun shine in! This is the second (followup)...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

A few more pix. Really getting close to the front of the bow now. This was the last "big" section that we did tonight. And this is where we left it for tonight. After it warms up tomorrow, we'll be out there again.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Speaking of persevering, we spent over 6 hours out there making more progress today! :D The high temp was only 66 degrees today, not the 70+ that had been forecast. And that lower temp affected us later in the day. The goal was to finish the entire starboard side today but we didn't quite...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Got a little more stripping done late this afternoon. The temps have been quite cold the last few days but I really have the itch to get stuff done. Only got up to 59 here but inside the garage it must have been 70 or so at 3pm. I picked up the boy from school at 4:30 and we grabbed a burger...

    Monmouth's 1979 Starcraft Kingfisher Rebuild

Yup, a couple of these should work well.

Your opinion please on a first boat, cheap one or spend more?

^^^^^THIS^^^^^ PLUS all the stuff that others have said. I'm married to a Filipina who grew up fairly well off. Her family owned 6 boats and she loves fishing. So when we bought our 16' Starcraft Kingfisher in 2015 and refurb'd it a bit to get it on the water, I expected her and the boy to be...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

WM, I heard ya loud and clear. USE THE DAD-BLAMED STRIPPER! :pound: Unless I want to spend the entire rest of the winter sanding.  The weather warmed up to about 65 today so after the boy came home from school we went out and worked a couple hours. Got the stern...

    Where are the Goldfinches?

They usually show up here about mid-October and hang around until March. Haven't seen a one this season. Wassup with that? :noidea:

Winter Weather (First day of winter)

Winter weather brings different dangers here. It was a very pleasant 61 degrees here this afternoon and my next door neighbor buddy was working around his place. As he was moving stuff around, this Eastern Diamondback stuck its head out to see what was going on. Um, "surprised" my bud for...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

With the assistance of our new recruits plus my wife and the boy, I did a little bit of work late this afternoon when the temp finally got up to 58 degrees. We picked up these new helpers-boat-and-fishing-buddies a week ago. Eight week old brother-sister pair. The gray is the girl. And I...
