    I would suggest a long shaft. Should be good to get the prop below the hull. Any longer and you won't be able to tilt the gearcase out of the water, and you will be dragging it around in the water when using the main motor.

    Good luck finding a radial in 5.30 x 12. You can use a 145/80-12 if you really want a radial. Also hard to locate in most areas.

    Look everywhere. In 1974, HIN were very new. Some manufacturers put duplicates in the boat, under the helm, inside the transom. How do you know its a '74 ? If year is on the title or registration, then the HIN or a serial number should be on the paperwork as well.
