    engine hood choking engine?!

    1972 'rude 100hp. Long story short, bought the motor used- it didn't run right in the lake...ended up being a loose wire on the points system. Ran great in the water once it was firing on all the cylinders, but then bogged down. Water pump was replaced and got a good stream from the pee hole...

    Oil coming out of pinhole on lower unit

    Just below the cavitation plate. Didn't leak before, but lower unit was just off for impeller replacement. No visible traces of water in the lower unit oil. Are we looking at a bad gasket, seal or ??? Not sure where the oil would be coming from specifically internally.

    Looking at a 1973 100hp Evinrude on Saturday. The guy is asking for $500 without controls. Initially it looks like a clean motor. What can a guy reasonably expect to see/find on a visual inspection? He says he can test compression for us, anything over 100psi and even across the cylinders...
