    Monmouth's 1979 Starcraft Kingfisher Rebuild

As WM said, if you go with the open front deck option as shown in the yellow boat, you should be fine. Maybe add a couple of those round vents toward the stern. If you go the closed storage route, a couple of clam shell vents, mounted on the gunnels, one facing forward and the other facing aft...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

FINALLY! It got up to 75 this afternoon and after the boy came home from school we got something done. The starboard hull bottom is as stripped as it's going to be! Temps are supposed to be in the lower 70s tomorrow so we'll try to get the port side hull bottom stripped the rest of the way...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

A little experimenting today. While waiting for other stuff, the boy and I did a little testing today with the stripper and whatnot. The boy has been off from school for over 2 weeks but the temperatures here have been truly winter-like. Too cold to do paint removal and repainting, etc...

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

I can totally relate to that! Here's MY selfie!

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

Yep, that boat could be gorgeous if fixed up properly. My wife really likes the look of the thing but in her mind, it should be left in an antique fashion. She really likes old iron, like tractors that have been around and worked hard through their time but are still very functional. She...

Winter Weather (First day of winter)

I have friends and family up north who are "enjoying" the blizzard. We had a hard freeze here overnight. It was 31 when I went to bed last night and 26 when I got up this morning. That's the lowest that my wife and the boy have experienced in their lives. They'd really like to see...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yes, I greatly increased the Prednisone dosage after talking with the doc the day before yesterday. My medical markers were elevated, indicating a relapse in progress. So we upped the amount and I may do so again, if needed. We'll see. But at least I'm able to function more now. The GCA and...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Let there be work! The outside temp got up to a whopping 70 degrees today and I'm pumped up on 'roids and painkillers, so we did a little more paint stripping! :D We spent 3 hours working but were only able to make minor progress. Yet it is progress. Most of the...

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

Looks to be a Crestliner Voyager Patrol Hardtop, 18 footer. Still working on the year, could be 1956 or 1957. Still researching.

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

Did a little bit of research this morning and found this pic. It appears to be the exact same hull like the boat I saw yesterday, minus the cabin. But I can't read what it says at the stern! :mad-new: The link was only to a pic site with no info about the boat at all.

I thought it was a tinny but now I'm not sure

Took the family late this afternoon to check out the sunset at a boat ramp we've not used before. On the way home we were cruising along when I noticed the orange glint of the sunset on an aluminum hull. We had to go another two miles to find a place to turn around so when I got back to the...

    We're in a heap o' trouble, now!

    This happened today. LOL!!

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Yeah, I ordered better scrubber pads and received them today. Sadly, they don't match the product description and may not be heavy-duty enough. They were the second product today that didn't match the description. :grumpy:

Looks to be pretty nice for the rest of the week.

Winter Weather (First day of winter)

Yeah, it was 44 here when I got up this morning. Hit 70 about 15 minutes ago but has dropped to 67 now. This pic is from our summer vacation this year. We were in Erie, PA at Presque Isle park on the lake. That exact same spot is now covered with 53" of snow and it's still falling! That makes...

    Lunch!

Last night a buddy dropped by and gave us some venison. My wife put some in the crock pot this morning. She turned up her nose at the gamey smell, so she only prepared enough for the boy and myself. But when it was ready to eat, she bravely tasted a sample... and immediately regretted not...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Got a little more stripping done on the bow section of the boat this afternoon. We went at it in a meticulous manner and that did help. Finally got the tough stuff done. Very, very slow though. I tested with a nylon sanding wheel and a wire wheel. They badly scratched the hull and didn't...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

This afternoon the boy and I went out and did a little more stripping work. Since the scrubbies I ordered won't be here for another week, I experimented a little with one of the small ones I bought locally. It worked okay. It loaded up a bit with the goop and also scratched into the...

    Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Don't know which model this is but it's 17' 6" LOA. Hull with title and matching trailer for $750. Not bad for around here. I just don't understand why folks don't CLEAN their boats before advertising them. :noidea: https://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/bpo/d/flats-boat-project-17-6/6433557627.html

The first day of winter here was 72 degrees and 96% humidity at 8:00AM. Ugh. :grumpy:
