    Depth finder

Maybe..........but an alarm setting shouldn't affect the depth reading. That unit was discontinued in 2005 and the unit came with known POS transducer to begin with. My money is on a bad transducer

    Depth finder

Is the depth "changing" or is it "flashing"? If flashing, you have a bad transducer. If the depth is not correct, flickering plus or minus a foot or two, its to expected with the transducer out of the water. If display goes blank, or flashing while under way, you have an aeration issue

What is this on the transom?

Unless your into hard core fishing, I would recommend a simple, glue in place, shoot thru installation which requires no holes at all. If a hard core guy, go with the tilted element, solution from Airmar.

The sending unit is a calibrated potentiometer. Have you measured sender output to verify its 0-190 ohm output?

    Winterizing: Fuel in tank options?

Have to agree… no E0 within 150 miles since 2002. Maintain 30 acres…have all the usual home and garden toys plus a few extras. Stihl, Shindiawa, Husquvarna and Honda Only fatality to date….had to replace the fuel pump ($18) in the Cub 682 after letting it sit for 3 years with fuel in the...

    Voltage Regulator

Burning up a voltage regulator is typically associated with battery or wiring issues. Corroded and or loose battery terminals are the usual suspects but a dead or dying battery can kill a regulator as well.

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

Towed my #3,500 boat from Baltimore to Oswego, NY and back with a 5.7 Grand pretty well. Sold that boat and bought the Grady. Brought the Grady (#5,200) home from Richmond to Baltimore on Interstate Rt. 95. Just not enough truck. Tail wagging the dog. Wife loved the Jeep but we sold it and...

Do manufactures install speakers not connected?

The unit only has 4 outputs at 4 ohms each. To connect more than 4 speakers to the system they would have to be 2 ohm speakers wired in parallel. Are the Zones configured and working correctly? Pull a speaker to see how many ohms. If 4 ohm, you can't get there from here w/o an amp or...

    Medically dependent on electricity?

Not medically needed, but reliant on electric for water, heat and communications. We live in an area prone to storm damage. Have been w/o power for a week or longer a number of times. Originally used a portable but keeping it fueled was an issue. Installed a back up generator system to...

Combatting Water/Damp Conditions inside of boat?

No such thing as “dry storage” on a boat. All my storage is properly gasketed and guttered. Keeps the water out, but does nothing to protect goods from the humidity of the marine environment. Anything moisture sensitive (clothes, towels, paper towels, etc.) go in sealed plastic containers...

    RWD Tow Vehicle Launch Issues?

So you’re the one making those obnoxious hop-hop trails up and down the beaches…lol When I first started surf fishing 40+ yro, 4 WD vehicles were few and far between. Most used rear wheel drive vehicles and proper beach driving techniques to get around. I have never used or even considered...

    Maintenance costs?

As my dad told me.. if you have to ask how much you can’t probably afford it. Warranty claims requires documentation. Make sure “shade tree” provides required/suitable warranty documentation. Stuff happens…damage not covered under warranty. Repair or replace a lower unit or prop should you hit...

    Is the buddy heater safe?

Having a hard time envisioning how or why anyone would have a 154 gallon fuel tank mounted next to them at the helm. Seems a bit of a stretch of imagination to even consider such a thing....lol

    Is the buddy heater safe?

Blowers are required on I/O and inboards because the fuel tank is housed in the same enclosed space as an internal combustion engine. No such hazard exists on an outboard powered boat

It’s even simpler than that….relay combines when the voltage is above 13.0 volts and opens when the voltage drops to 12.75 volt.
