Replace water inlet hose on Bravo 3

I rcently had a leak at the end of the hose you're talking about. It was flared and broken just enough to leak. If your leak is where it mates to the sea water pump and you have enough "slack" in your current hose, you might just cut off 3" with a sawzall w. a metal cutting blade. Better than...

Replace water inlet hose on Bravo 3

The fear is your hose "kinking" and stopping water flow. As long as you run it in such a way as to make kinking impossible, I would just buy a quality steel reinforced hose that fits and go with it.

    ENGINE NOT STARTING...KICKING MY BUT

Wulffe Marine just resells aftermarket parts. I don't think they actually make their own parts. If you're looking on Ebay, look at the ITEM SPECIFICS section of each listing and they should say there the actual "Brand". For me, the hierarchy has always been: Mercruiser/Quicksilver (OEM), Sierra...

    Back up camera on trailer

My suggestion would be to buy a GoPro with Bluetooth. You glue a quick disconnect GoPro mounts onto the trailer. Attach the GoPro when trailering. Then use your cell phone camera to view (a Tablet would be even better). Then when you're done, remove the GoPro and use it for whatever other things...

1995 Mercruiser 3.0 starter will not engage flywheel

Actually I once had an issue on my 7.4 where all the connections were fine. But amazingly rusty water had dripped from the manifolds (a separate issue) and it had run down in between the seams of where the starter bolted on to the block. Since the starter grounds itself via the block, that whole...

1993 Sea Ray/ Mercruiser 4.3/ Thunderbolt IV ignition timing

Ah, I see. That clarifies things. Thank you Chris.

1993 Sea Ray/ Mercruiser 4.3/ Thunderbolt IV ignition timing

TB-4 = Thunderbolt IV, which is what you have. Manual 18 = Mercruiser Service Manual #18, which is the manual that covers your engine. I just read the timing excerpt from Manual 18 and I agree, there seems to be nothing to disconnect on the distributor to set to "base timing" the way there is...

    7.4L Impeller replacement attempt

I'm not familiar w. closed cooling systems; never owned one. Although I *should*. But a boat mechanic once showed me a trick that might be useful to you especially since you have two engines and one operates well. You need to find exactly where the raw water enters the cooling system. I've...

    1997 454 mag carb 0K198678 timing

I hope the more experienced guys chime in to help more but in the meantime I attached the Electrical Systems section from Manual 25. Should include the part about the Thunderbolt V system. Although this manual is from 1999 I don't think procedures had changed since 1997. Also, I was learning a...

    7.4L Impeller replacement attempt

I just had an overheat issue to 225 degrees. I had gone through 4 impellers. Turned out to be the impeller housing. I know you've done enough work but if I were you I'd pull that port impeller housing and check closely for grooves in the walls and cracks in the inflow and outflow ports; those...

1998 Bravo 7.4 Non-Magnum - Have Ruined 3 Impellers w/o ever putting the boat on the water...

Understood but the water gets collected and recycled and put back in the tank real time, so the volume is indefinite (less evaporation). Yeah they should have a bigger pump. That station was built to wash boats, not run them. But in a pinch I asked to use it. I have to say though, when you look...

1998 Bravo 7.4 Non-Magnum - Have Ruined 3 Impellers w/o ever putting the boat on the water...

All of the others had keyways intact and it was the paddles disintegrated. This is the first one that failed at the keyway. Yeah I'd rather not buy another housing kit if I don't have to. But, that's exactly what I did this morning. So at least I'll be able to move forward with peace of mind...

1998 Bravo 7.4 Non-Magnum - Have Ruined 3 Impellers w/o ever putting the boat on the water...

Ok gotcha thanks. However, I ran the boat on Tuesday off a municipal hose w. plenty of water and pressure. Ran perfect. No overheating. So I guess the question is, does a housing w. some grooves in it but not cracked usually have performance problems or is that not a suspect here? If not, I'll...

1998 Bravo 7.4 Non-Magnum - Have Ruined 3 Impellers w/o ever putting the boat on the water...

Yep. On full and was a 5/8" hose. Here's a picture of the actual setup. You can see the 500 gallon tank behind the boat. Was pumped to the boat by one of those Jabsco-type pumps you see on boats and RVs.

1998 Bravo 7.4 Non-Magnum - Have Ruined 3 Impellers w/o ever putting the boat on the water...

No, not out of a bucket. With muffs off a hose w. fair to good water pressure. EDIT: I see why it might have been confusing. The water tank was just the supply where the water came from. I didn't put the sterndrive in the water tank. Water was pumped out of the water tank and through a hose...

1998 Bravo 7.4 Non-Magnum - Have Ruined 3 Impellers w/o ever putting the boat on the water...

...and now I just ruined the 4th one.... Happy 4th Weekend. Hope everyone is enjoying themselves! Long story short: Boat hasn't been in the water >4 years due to a bad gas tank that had to be removed from under the deck and replaced (my projects are stretched out for maximum fun...

    Shift plate

Where was the original one mounted? Most of the one's I've seen have been mounted to the starboard riser with 3 threaded studs. Does your starboard riser have 3 threaded studs coming out of it? And you're saying your replacement doesn't line up w. these?

    7.4L Impeller replacement attempt

I used this video as a guide to rebuild my 1993 Bravo 3 sea water pump a couple of years ago. I only replaced the bearings and seals, not the shaft. Still works perfect today. $40 instead of ~$600+:
