Shipping a Boat Across the Country

You might want to consult a few shiiping/trucking folks on that question. Having a trailer under the boat will add a couple of feet in height, which may be a problem, depending on how 'high' the boat is to begin with. Also, not having a trailer may open things up for boat haulers that have...

What foam to use to build a fiberglass cooler?

It's a cooler . . . how strong does it need to be? Not sure you will notice a difference. If I were me, I'd go with urethane foam and poly resin. Urethane foam sheets will be more expensive, but poly resin will be less expensive (than epoxy). Biaxial fiberglass cloth (like 1708) will be good...

What foam to use to build a fiberglass cooler?

Urethane foam if you are using polyester resin with your fiberglass Urethane foam or Styrene foam if you are using epoxy resin with your fiberglass. Polyester resin and Styrene foam just don't seem to get along, even if you have latex paint as a referee.

    Winter Storage/Cover with Radar Arch . . .

Greetings, This new-2-me boat is the first I've had with a radar arch. The arch is forward pitching, and I have put a winter cover on the boat - which is not exactly the right fit, but it suffices. Anyway, the cover goes over everything, and I was concerned about the potential for snow load...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Yes, it was a bit of craziness in terms of spending some big bucks and needing work. We looked at 3 of these boats (Cruisers 328/338) . . . they all needed some work of various forms (engine, gelcoat, upholstery). We also looked at a Formula 330 CBR, which needed some upholstery work as well...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Here is the second panel (bottom in picture), which came out much better. I also fixed the first panel. I've got to make 4 more. The panels are 12" tall x 35" wide +/-. . . The diamonds are a 4" tall x 2" wide pattern. The boat sidewalls have a slightly larger diamond pattern . . . maybe...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

I am using the regular Tenara (92). I did get some material from Albright's. I had to really shop around for the material, because no single (or several) places had much of what I needed. I'm using the 1/4" sew foam, same as last time. I still have some of the heavy Tenara (138) thread left...

    454 Lifter Adjustment

Which generation 454? Mark IV Gen 5 Gen 6 ??? IIRC, on the Mark IV you tighten the rocker to '0' lash, then go another turn on the rocker bolt. Not sure about the 5 & 6, never had to adjust those. You can probably Google it though . . . "GM 454 valve adjustment"

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

I did some more disassembly of the seating and the sidewall and helm trim. I was thinking the sidewall trim was going to be a real PITA to remove, but it is actually held on with automotive-type insert fasteners. . . . . The fastening for the seat is pretty much standard fair for boat...

    Marine oil VS Standard Synthetics

I'm not much of an oil connoisseur, I just go with the recommended weight in any brand. Most oils meet the relevant spec's, unless you really dig deep into the bargain aisle.

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

Just revising my list of improvement projects . . . 2022 . . . Upholstery - will be the big project. I plan to add some color to the mostly gray upholstery. See my Post -> https://forums.iboats.com/threads/re-upholstery-job-on-cruisers-yacht-338-bowrider.752762/ Microwave - this boat was void...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Looks like the logo embroidery will be fairly low in cost. I'll be able to get 4 of the CY logos embroidered into the vinyl for under $100. Thanks @Scott Danforth for the lead.

Forgot to trim up while jacking up trailer

There will be some play. An inch or less sounds fine. Have you run the boat yet . . . like on a pre-purchase trail or anything like that?

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Quick Update . . . Much of the vinyl has arrived, still waiting on the white, and a few other items. I have been surprised at how quickly the items have arrived, given the time of year.

Forgot to trim up while jacking up trailer

Nice going . . . How much damage? All of it. . . Since we cannot see your boat, we don't know. The outdrives are designed to kick up when they hit an underwater object, so that feature probably prevented any serious damage. Have you looked at the transom area and the outdrive to...

1st time buying stocks on my OWN online? How?

TD Ameritrade . . . Probably a minimum amount to start an account. They have the 'Think or Swim' platform and you can either trade throguh the platform or through the website. The other online brokers are similar.

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

In Other News . . . I had these long sleeve tee shirts made up as Christmas gifts for the family. . . . . 'CREW', 'CAPTAIN', and 'ADMIRAL' versions. :D

I also gave her some more artwork. When the time comes I'll touch base with them, if I don't hear back. I won't have any vinyl material to send them until next week.
