    Some good stuff happening

Dirt delivery today! Rained heavily yesterday and rained again this afternoon, but the construction company finally got the dirt here. No problem at all with truck ingress and egress. Contacted my buddy and he will try to get it leveled for me this weekend, but no promises. With the rain...

    Some good stuff happening

Thanks for the support, guys. It really is much appreciated! :) I did in fact get the grass cut today. And we ordered another load of fill dirt! It'll be here tomorrow morning. I'll send a pic of that to my buddy and ask him to get the pad area finished. GOT to get this shelter thing done! I'm...

    Spiffing up gauges

I'm retired so my labor is free. And it is a hobby after all, right? Maybe? Supply costs would be negligible. It would be nice if I could get some gauges like these, but the costs are pretty darned high. Something like $500 for the Rinker set. Hacker gauge set: Rinker gauge set:

    Spiffing up gauges

If I cleaned, polished and painted up these gauges, would they look a lot nicer? I was thinking of painting the bezels bright white. Or would they just look like cheap gauges that have been painted? This whole set is for sale on CL for just $50 and they'd work well for my twins project. But...

Hummingbirds, no not the fish locator type

gm280 We have them here too but nowhere near that number. We've only seen 3 at a time. My wife started planting perennials a couple years ago to attract them and it's starting to work. We now have a few "permanent" residents which remain here from spring to fall. Normally we'd see them...

    Some good stuff happening

So I stepped outside this morning. First time I've been out of the house since my surgery 4 days ago. It was nice to walk around the yard a little. Temp was only 77 but humidity was 97%. Stifling! I just wanted to see how the yard was doing. Checked on how the grass was growing on the...

    Tips to beat the heat?

Summer water temps here are in the upper 80s or low 90s. And there are "things" in the water... we don't go in the water!

    1974 Starcraft Chieftain Overhaul

Pool noodles aren't the way to go. They don't provide as much flotation and can absorb water. Foam board insulation is the way to go. Many of us have used it with success. :)

    Some good stuff happening

The only way I can get pix to upload is to transfer them to PowerPoint, save them as a .jpg file then resize them in my photo software. A pain. So I'm gonna stop with this one. At least y'all can see the "runway" effect.

    Some good stuff happening

Hi all. I'm back again. My buddy came over with his tractor and started leveling the piles. Only took him about 1/2 hour to knock them down and start the leveling process. But then he had to leave again. Sigh. Someday soon it'll all be done!

    Some good stuff happening

Thanks. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable splash! I did read about your replacement tires. Good move. The yard and new pad area are still unchanged for how. Plenty of work left to to. Am hoping my buddy is available to move dirt again soon. Still looks like this:

    Some good stuff happening

Several more weeks have passed and more work has been done. Still very slow going though. Part of the reason is due to my health again. I finally tapered completely off the steroids but doing so caused me to have withdrawal symptoms like weakness, excruciating pain and the inability to move...

A Diamond in the Ruff? Or a guaranteed frying pan to the head from the Admiral?

I had one of those when I lived up north 20 years ago. Nice boat. Used it on the Chesapeake Bay and lower Potomac River. My kids liked it a lot too. It had a 75hp Chrysler and would run about 25mph with that motor. Sold it here the day I brought it down to Florida. The guy who helped me...

Starcraft '73 16' Holiday (refurb by relative newbies)

This is how I did it on our Kingfisher. We used 3/4" rigid foam because that was the only size available in our area. Larger sizes are made and might be available to you.
