    Flooding or too rich plugs are fouled will always be a tough time to start. Get the carb straightened out test spark with gap tester. Might need to clean or replace plugs

    just dump a little gas if you have good spark it will run for a few seconds , if it doesn’t you are missing spark strength spark timing or compression . sure ther is no vacuum leak under carb ? Last thing that was touched usually several base gaskets come with carb kit maybe not the correct one

    Yeah if you want to use it that high. You loose like 20% of power at that altitude. yes normally you prop down in pitch and at 6 likely have to lean out your jetting, but you are only working with 6 hp, probably 4.5 at that altitude

    Yes 4 blade will generally give up top speed but provide better holeshot, sternlift, and lower planning speeds. if you do loaded water sports like me its the way to go.

    Thats correct on my boat the carbed 4.3 came with a 1.81 drive, the mpi 4.3 which is 220 hp came with 1.62 drive as did the 5.0/220 hp carb and 5.0 mpi/ 260 hp. the drive ratio diff between a 1.81 and 1.62 is similar to about 2” in prop pitch . I repowered my boat from a 4.3 to a 5.0 with a...
