    Cable drum? If I remember right you rotate the drum until you can see the screw that locks the drum to the gear shaft. It's under the cables on the drum. Then you can pull the shaft. Then remove the bolts that hold the bracket and it should come off.

    I also used fiber disks with a backing plate. I have taken a few hits with an angle grinder and I don't think I would ever use a carbide saw blade. I am pretty ballsy but those things will cut off body parts before you can blink

    Starter motors can have different directions. Step #1 ... get a original equipment manual for that motor and alot of the answers you seek shall be in there.

    I did some testing with a gopro on high speed so I could slow it down and see the prop. Worked well. Put a safety tether on it. If I had not done that to mine I would have lost it. I wrapped it in a stainless steel .040 safety wire harness I made. I didn't want to trust the gopro lanyard.
