Starcraft QUestion. WHat is this bracket for?

Here's how I did it for my Kingfisher. That's 3/4 inch foam board cut into wedges. The wedges were then glued together and taped with aluminum duct tape. The blue ones are also pink but are covered with transparent blue HDPE bags to make them gasoline proof.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Wow! Thank you so much! I am honored. :joyous: Yeah, that ugly monster has other kin in that water too. Didn't see any crock-a-gators while fishing yesterday but did spook one to dive while returning to the launch ramp. Pix from a prior visit at that lake... Thanks! Been 3 months...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Boo yah!!!! :D  SPLASHED!! And the boat was completely dry, other than a few drops over the transom from the monster wake. LOL :biggrin-new: The engine performed perfectly as well. Awesome stuff. Got 61 pix and videos... here are a few to keep ya'll going while I review and...

Help! 8hp Johnson recoil starter rope problem

Here's the scary deal from next door! The starter's all fixed and I'm ready to splash my little Kingfisher. But it's not gonna happen for a couple more days at the earliest. Dangit. Thanks again for the help! :joyous:

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

FIXED! Another buddy came over to show me something he hit with his bush hog next door to my place... pic below. While here I told him of my travails with the starter and he said "let's just go do this" and we went out and 15 minutes later it was a done deal. Ready to splash! Won't...

Help! 8hp Johnson recoil starter rope problem

The starting rope on my 1994 Johnson 8hp model J8RLERE outboard was frayed and needed to be replaced. I am unfamiliar with how these things work so called on my 72 y.o. buddy to give me a hand. He messes with recoil lawnmower starters all the time. We successfully removed the recoil unit and...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Sunshine today. :D First lunch in the boat! Took a break from work and fed our faces. :) Reassembly nearly completed! Still a few more things to button up and tighten down. Bought a battery box and fuel tank hold down kit this evening but the rains came again so no more work tonight...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

No boat work today. Rain, rain, rain! Started last night about 10 o'clock and has been continuous ever since. It'll stop for a short while, followed by torrential downpours. This is the 3rd time this morning that we've scooped water out of the boat. It was completely empty prior to this...

So how much does a big Starcraft weigh?

Say something like a 22' - 25' foot Chieftain with a Mercruiser 165 on a dual wheel trailer. Total tow weight? Boat weight with that motor? Weight of the motor and outdrive alone?

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The weather was great again today and I worked on the boat all day! Made serious progress, yet didn't get as far as I'd hoped. The front "V" foam is now cut and in place. All of the foam is now in place under the deck. The sternmost deck and next forward deck pieces are now laid...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Thanks! Been loads of work but I think well worth it in the long run. Yeahh... the HDPE to protect the foam from gasoline is based on an experience I had about 20 years ago. It was my fault for being distracted while fueling but I ended up with a deck covered in about 1/2 inch of gas. But...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Flotation foam under deck is almost done! Just have to measure, cut, shape, stack, glue and tape the wedges for the most forward part of the bow. :D

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The sun came out for a short while before sunset so we went out and did a quick check fit of the forward most foam pieces. Not perfect but close enough. That far forward the hull shape changes dramatically so each individual foam wedge had to be shaped accordingly. They're all done now and...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Got 15 minutes of work done this morning. Thirteen of which were in sunshine and 1 minute of sprinkles while I quickly snapped pix and then a minute later the real rain started. Argghh! :yell: We did pull out 4 more bays of previously cut foam to glue together, etc. and will assemble those...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Rain, rain, rain... but we got some work done today indoors! Glued, taped, wrapped, stacked, numbered and ready to go in the boat. Just waiting for some sunshine here.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

The sun came out for awhile today and we made more progress. This morning we got some of the foam wedges glued together, taped into blocks and the blocks wrapped with the HDPE bags. Then this afternoon (after the rain!) we placed them in the boat but they're not glued down yet. Will do that...
