Water in bilge pump screw holes

It is a fastener pad . . . otherwise you'd be drilling through the hull. The bottom of your bilge it the 'top side' of the hull. If the fastener pad was wet inside, then take your shop vac to it and pull the water out. If it is a wood core, it will probably rot or has rotted. If it is...

    7.4L Impeller replacement attempt

You could try the off-brand items . . . Hard to say if there will be a quality difference . . . it might actually be the same part in different packaging. The Merc branded pump is about $780 and the aftermarket branded pump on Amazon is about $400 for the set - sea water & fuel pump.

    I have a similar engine and run 50:1 . . . I don't know if I would trust 100:1 even though it is specified.

How many hours on a used Tahoe ?

If the engine is fuel injected, then the ECM data can be viewed. If it is carburated, then you are OOL.

WATER CAME DRIPPING OUT. Is it time to donate it?

Lucky you . . . or April Fools as the case may be . . . Those friends of friends will get you every time. 🤪 Tell us more about the engine, Outboard? I/O ? Water in the engine is not a good sign. If it is an I/O could mean the engine is toast (cracked from freezing ????)

Riser Extension Blocks - Full Closed Cooling ???

While I'm on the subject of cooling systems . . . Are there any SAE/USCG requirements/spec's that I should be aware of as I replace hoses, etc. ??? Just want to make sure I use 'compliant' materials, if there are any marine specifics other than good quality reinforced coolant...

Found it. . . Copper, but it will do the trick for another 8 years or so . . . It was under 'marine cooling system accessories' . . .

Need guidance on 30 Year old Fuel Tank

The main issue/risk would be what you cannot see . . . namely what, if anything, is going on with the foam that surrounds the tank. A pressure test might help, but a visual inspection of the under side of the tank would be so much better. Often fuel tanks are removed from the boat for a full...

I'm impressed with your skills . . . taking apart an OMC seems like it would take nerves of steel. Good thing you had the cat there to guide you along. My Golden Retriever was not much help when I was doing outdrive maintenance. 🤪 Like you are doing, I usually try to buy the same bearings...

    Whats my old motor worth??

I/O engines seem to be worth less and less as time goes on since the trend is towards outboards. You could try selling it as a complete engine, but as mentioned it might be worth more as parted out.
