Pre red plug Simplex controls to red plug motor?

That's what I was thinking, but I didn't know if OMC ever had an adapter harness or has an adapter harness like they have for the Red plug motor to black plug controls or vice verse adapter harnesses Did the motors prior to 1973 have any single point disconnect from the harness? Mine has...

Pre red plug Simplex controls to red plug motor?

I have a 1966 RD-28 40hp on my 1966ish Starcraft Holiday 14 OB. Runs great but I discovered it needs lower unit seals ( ordered ).. It did get me thinking on, the what if something happened to it and it needed serious repair.. I have a spare 1988 Johnson 20hp which is ready to go, other than I...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

I just and went and re changed the gear lube to flush out any water remaining and realised where the extra lube had come from.. I simply pumped a couple pumps extra past full and let it run out, not giving any thought to the fact it was running down the leg... But now everything is wiped off, if...

    Boat Flooring

Any "X" rated plywood would be good to go once properly sealed. Marine plywood is simply AAX rated but you could use ABX without any thought to it, or even CDX or BCX if you didn't mind filling in some gaps from knots with water proof putty... Laminate flooring absorbs water as it's not really...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

Yes, I know. I'll get the parts coming. I figured I'd replace the shift rod or ring too. Is the prop shaft seal diffacult like a Merc or is it simple? It's not leaking right now. I have a pressure tester that I manufactured out of a bike pump but I pretty much know it's going to leak. Looking...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

Ok so I just changed the gear lube. Not much water was in it. Was in the lake about 1hr in total. I refilled it, and it looks like more might have came out, but that seems impossible, since it's only going to leak to the bottom of the seal. Pouring right now or I'd drag it out of the garage and...

Value of a 1970 StarCraft Chieftain

You may be right. I just looked and at least up to 1969 they were Starchief but continued some time after 1970 as a Chieftan.

Value of a 1970 StarCraft Chieftain

If your looking for strictly resale, probably NOT.. Your going to need at least 90-100hp to make it happy... But that is a rare boat and it WILL sell. especially with the shift to outboards

Value of a 1970 StarCraft Chieftain

Starchief was early 60's, the Chieftan was the next generation of the same boat

Value of a 1970 StarCraft Chieftain

Being an 18' chief outboard I'd have to say he can probably get $3k for it as it's one of the more popular and rare hulls.

merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

Yes the blocks, rotating assembly and heads are standard Chevrolet small blocks. So you can go 350 or 383.

merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

It's an issue because you are making it an issue.. you could put a 265 267 283 305 350 or even a 383 stroker In it and it would make zero difference. You have an 84 so any small block chevy 1969 to 1985 will work and really you can change your flywheel and go 1986 and newer. You might as well go 350

merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

305 and 350 are externally identical. Only their bores are different. The engine I recommended is $1,500 last I knew right from GM. If you just need an engine that runs a junkyard truck 350 with new head gaskets, core plugs and water pump will do just fine for a few hundred. Don't get cought...

merc. chevy 1984 305 info? need one?

Buy a fresh brand new crate 350 long block from GM, you can get one at the dealer parts counter, or Summit racing or other catalog.. Pull the heads off of it, install marine head gaskets, core plugs and raw water pump, then use your boat intake manifold and a new set of manifolds and risers...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

I agree, but if it looks like gear oil, and smells like gear oil, it's probably gear oil.. It's clean gear oil like someone just poured it there. I've had it out on the lake once and it ran perfectly.. I have another trip planned for the 9th, and I'll probably just change the gear oil and run...

What year outboard is this Super Seahorse 40hp?

Just glanced at the lower unit tonight and noticed gear oil had leaked from the water intake, so i pretty much know the driveshaft seal is leaking. Going to drain and refill and test to see what happens again but pretty much know I gotta pull it apart again.

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

you could add fresh water cooling/ closed cooling to any engine, but you would want to do it to NEW manifolds and risers ect... rust scale and closed cooling does not mix well.. I think Sierra still makes the I6 manifolds/ risers. The I6 was discontinued in '81, but parts are not hard to find...
