1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

If you have a complete running 165 6cyl, with manifolds, complete to bolt up, you would be wise to use it.... The 2.5L is basically a 4cyl 250 block, and the 3.0L is built on that platform ( they are not 100% the same )... You can prop your 3.0L drive to work with the 165hp. It's not 100%...

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

show pictures of the heat exchanger... That is for sure a 3.0L leg of the correct vintage. They are easilly swapped but for sure you have a 3.0L leg now. I'm confused because you called the 3.0L obsolete, when it's far from it as it's still in production I think. It's nearing the end of it's...

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

The 3.0l never came with a heat exchanger. That was a 3.7l thing which that boat could have had originally. The outdrive ratio is also different for a 3.7

1989 Starcraft Islander 221V repair and repower

The 3.0L is still being manufactured, and Mercruiser is nearly fully supporting the older ones. Now, you say the boat has a heat exchanger, and that it is a 1989. That almost 100% confirms the original engine was a 3.7L, which was probably pulled when it puked itself from one of the various...

1994 OM. factory manual for my 1995?

Ebay can find used manuals. Sometimes you can get away with an older manual, sometimes not.. For instance I have a 1994 book for my 1997 Evinrude 4hp. 1994 and 1997 are basically identical in a 4hp, but ymmv on a different hp

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

There were 4 people and 2 boats.. One was idling the entire time I was at the dock.. I'd have loaded up the dead boat and taken the good boat to at least get some time on the water.

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Thanks, and yup. Bilge was bone dry. I upgraded the bilge system But glad I did not even have to turn it on. I had it set on auto anyway It was actually kind of funny. There were 2 go fast boats at the launch. An older smaller Scarab and a Wellcraft of the same type but was not a Scarab...

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Was a little cloudy. Not smooth as glass. I think the waves in the pic are actually the wake from my boat. I can't remember but I think I had just turned around when I took that picture.. Had 1/2 day window as this was after my 1/2 day at work and tomorrow is supposed to rain, so good enough

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Splashed it today at a nearby lake I've never been to ( Canadarago ). Launch is a great/ easy launch, trailer launched great. Hit the choke, and it did have to crank a second or 2 but it fired right up.. I forgot to prime the bulb or it would have started right off I didn't get any good pics...

    Lorad LDX-600

I am no expert, but I think that unit is for use on the ocean. Pretty FA is for fathoms which is 1 fathom for every 6' A 24' boat, I doubt your going to venture that far out, you can get by with the readout on a good chart plotter.. And check the original transducer for that old one as it...

25hp to 35hp with carb swap???

I tend to agree. I drove a '74 MGB daily for 2 summers. One time it dropped a cylinder, and I determined it to be compression loss. Got it home, adjusted the valves and had it back out the next morning. Other than a squealing belt from time to time, it was one of the most reliable vehicles...

25hp to 35hp with carb swap???

You need the intake and carburator from a 30/35hp and then you need to time it to the 30/35hp specs and you'll also want to re prop it. It does not cost much. $100 for a carb or so, and $30 for the intake The 35hp lost 5hp in 1986? due to the prop vs crank rated hp change. They were 30hp...

1988 evinrude 8 hp control setup

Yeah, you could hook up a simplex box to it. You'll need the adapter kit for remote controls. I don't think the 'kit' is still available but all of the parts are. search 0173689 and you might find one from another supplier
