Received a Ray Jefferson 5000M Marine Radio, but don't know how to use it?

Couple of issues: What antenna do you have? That radio is a museum piece. Don’t be surprised if you have don’t have access to some channels. Does not have DSC which is the single biggest safety feature of modern VHF radio List of channels for use https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=mtvhf

Looking For A New Gps/Depth Finder.

A combo unit is all you need. Gives you chart and fish finding functions. Unless you want to leave the old transducer to fill the hole and go with a transom mount transducer, you need to determine how the existing transducer is mounted. In specific the diameter of the mounting hole and the...

Fish finder mount on 2022 SVX

Not a fan of Humminbird for their deceptive performance claims but a lot of people seem to be happy with them. I'm running Garmin EchoMap UDH 94SV with a GT51M-TM transducer for FF and a Garmin GPSMAP 943 for chart plotting. I can add Panoptix Live Scope to either one but don't see the need in...

Fish finder mount on 2022 SVX

What functionality are you looking for that your not finding on the smaller displays? "Good quality" fishfinder is subjective...my transducer was $600 alone . How much do you want to spend?

    Rebound clip

Nope.....and who knows how long they had been cracked. Two leafs in the middle of a 5 stack. Cracked through the hole where the center bolt passes thru the stack. Spring is more or less static in that location. Wasn't until I released the tension on the hanger that the leafs fell out.

Looking For A New Gps/Depth Finder.

I wouldn’t assume anything. My 1999 still works as good as new ;) Having said that, you need to identify the transducer to choose a replacement. Once you choose the transducer you can select a head unit to support it. What size display do you want? Bigger is better

    Sea Ray 21SPX Electrical Issue

What was it doing that you had to change the battery? Stereo have power? Check with voltmeter Check the fuses? Blowing fuses is typically a short circuit in the wiring or motor itself. Remove power wire at motor and see if fuse still blows. If not, you have a bad blower motor.

    Cool weather app

The problem you run into with these types of apps are the update rates and they don’t reflect local variability in forecasts. I use NOAA forecast site. About as accurate as I’ve found, at least for our area. Wave heights forget it..to much localized variability. Have seen a forecast of seas...

Just bought this pontoon from dealer, got home with no straps on back !

Not to point fingers, but as the owner of the rig, you and you alone are responsible for securing the load and trailer to the tow vehicle. Never assume when it comes to safety. Had you done your pre-trailering safety checks you would have found the load was unsecured and addressed the issue...

    Rebound clip

Guessing you can buy them outright but every set of springs I’ve ever purchased came with factory installed clips What happened to the original clip(s)? They typically just don’t fall off. Something happens to facilitate it. In my case, I had two cracked leafs. No indication of a problem...

Radar Dome Install Trophy 2052 Hardtop

Couple things to think about The farther back from the front edge of the hardtop the higher the pedestal mount required. Wedge mounts must be on forward edge of top Need to determine running angle on plane to determine wedge angle. May want to consider a fold down mount if you have any low...

Surge brakes lasted 1200 miles of highway, whats wrong

Because people who spend $1,000 on a set of SS brakes don't like to see rust on them....and are willing to pay $70 for a pair of brake pads...lol As much as I've run Kodiaks in SW over the past 10-15 years, surely I would have had an issue by now

    Second fuel tank

I run a 94 gallon Main and a 54 gallon Reserve tank. One tanks has ~15 feet of fuel line (3/8") to motor the other has ~25 feet of fuel line. Both have no problems working off an OEM outboard fuel pump. Have a selector switch at the helm to select which tank to read on fuel gauge and a 3-way...

Surge brakes lasted 1200 miles of highway, whats wrong

Like Bruce58... never had an performance issue either. I could see not be particularly keen with rusting backing pads on a full stainless steel setup, but I'm running Dacromet rotors and KodaGuard calipers. A bit of rust on the pads is the least of my worries Had issue with the brake pads...

Surge brakes not working. Where to start

You need a blocking solenoid on drum brakes unless they are free backing. You use a by-pass solenoid for disc brakes

Surge brakes not working. Where to start

The only thing I can add is if the brakes are working correctly, slamming on the brakes isn’t going to do much because the Trailer and truck are decelerating at same rate. I would expect the pads to clear the rust off the disks. Suggest going to ceramic brakes pads to reduce wear
