Fibreglass boat floor replacement - do I need to use fiberglass?

When i poured my foam i had left gaps in the tabbing where floor meets hull as well as the holes for poaring foam. The gaps were 4-6" every 2' or so placed strategically so the air could escape and let the foam go to the sides of the hull instead of just foward. Also had lots of scrap wood and...

Stern drive/inboard engine - sealing transom ring

Without seal and ring I took and coated my screws with grease and then filled the slightly large holes with epoxy (still enough wood for screws to kinda bite). After epoxy was about 98% hard i backed all the screws out. Epoxy should stay put and not come out with screw. Do testing to find what...

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

Soooo to get past the staple issue.... If the kerfs are on the foam padding side of the seat just glass that side and leave the back bare. If the kerfs are on the other side leave about 2-3" around the perimeter bare for staples and glass the rest. Then treat the bare wood. Thats one o those...

    Bilge Pump Design??

On my cuddy i put the pipe back. The hole in one end of the pipe had been covered in glass. I used sch 40 pvc and gently warmed it until pliable to conform to the boat. Sch 40 pvc is tough unless exposed to uv light then it gets brittle. I also roughed it up with 32 grit where it wag going to...

    Old Coast Guard Horn

Something else.... Unwire the coil from the rest and see what resistance you get. Should be a few ohm to a few hundred. Should not be zero and definantly not read open

    Old Coast Guard Horn

Look for some type of polarity marking where the wires attach. Usually if its dc there is a mark. Ac dont matter so they dont mark it. But i bet the coil is shot

    Cloth or not

Epoxy or poly? If its poly put some mat in between. The fibers help fill the gaps and valleys between the plys and give the brittle resin its strength. Epoxy.... i dont think it matters too much but use cloth, not mat if you add glass

Heavy weight seat mounts & swivels

$250 might cover a 5 gal bucket of resin. I went thru 10? I think for my 21' cuddy. Then add glass cloth, ppe, consumables and other supplies.... i would work out the budget before getting too deep and not being able to finish and not being able to sell cuz you cut it up.
